I'd been doing some voluntary office work for my church whilst I was unemployed (I'm pleased to say I'm now in paid work). I volunteered 2 days a week, which included working over the Xmas period and didn't get paid for travel. When it was my day again to go in to do my 'stint', I saw lots of people including all the volunteers too had Xmas cards and so I wondered where mine were. My christian 'boss' told me, "I suppose your Xmas cards will be lying around somewhere" and that was that. I didn't get one! I looked around, but couldn't see them. I thought this was quite rude. What do you think?

I think that is very rude, but at least you know you done something good for the community, there are not too many ppl out there that have the heart to give their time for free for the less fortunate.

keep up the good work,

Quite possibly, although it's not my place to judge.

I think the important thing here is that you don't harbour bad feelings against them - I'm sure you don't want to become bitter. The fact that you were doing voluntary work says a lot about your giving personality - it would be a shame if this experience was to in any way crush that.

Forgive them, be at peace.

Maybe (although I hesitate to say this) it's not the right church for you. If you feel it isn't then look for another with a more friendly attitude and greater community spirit.

God bless.

Yes. It was very rude of them if they gave X-mas cards to most of the people but not all of them. It was also rude of your boss to say your card must be 'lying around somewhere'. I guess there is nothing you can do about it now but the whole situation sounds very annoying. I know I'd feel a bit slighted.

Christian people can be unthinking and rude just like any others. Forget them and and do your own thing when you have free time. There are plenty of other causes that need volunteers that will appreciate your time and effort. Probably there are people at your Church that want to be the do gooders and want all the praise for it. Your efforts just diluted the praise that they consider they deserve.

i know you should not give to receive but did you get anyone Else a card?
maybe you were feeling down about not working "paid" and didn't realise you may be rude to people. sometimes we can do this without knowing it, if we are feeling low.
ask yourself have you ever made an effort with anyone there, when you have thought about this you may find it was you not them.
if not then don't worry they are not your friends.

I thought you said you Volunteered. What did you want, PRAISE and a PAT on the back? Evidently you did it for the wrong reasons. God has saw what you have done, and is that not the most important thing in it?

Very rude and inconsiderate. Print off all these answers and send them to all concerned. Well done on volunteering don't take their inconsiderate ways to heart.

Yes, I do and ungrateful for your 'free' contribution to their workload. Giving you a Xmas card, was the least that could have done.
