In 1967 some of the original papyrus pieces used by Joseph Smith to translate the "Book of Abraham" contained in the "Pearl of Great Price", a key Mormon doctrine, surfaced in a New York City museum.

Modern Egyptologists made a translation and showed the documents had nothing to do with Abraham but were ordinary funeral documents that would be found with any mummy.

This was in fact the proof that Joseph Smith was not given the wisdom to translate the Golden Plates, wasn't it?

The song sounds wicked and dark. Not that there's anything wrong with wicked and dark. But wicked and dark just sounds really dumb as a Christmas song. Really dumb.

Most of what was written in the bible was applicable to the times back then, but is not applicable now.

The old testament seems invalid also.

The reason for all the confusion in Christianity today is because people are always taking the bible so literraly...its leading to a lot of false doctrine and rigid religious beleifs, which are apparant in Christianity today.

I asked this in the family category and didn't get any answers, so I'm asking it here.

My mother told me a long time ago that she basically wished that I was never born. Her exact words to me were, "If I could change it, I wouldn't have had you kids." I have two other siblings. Knowing how she feels about the whole situation, it explains a lot about how she treated us as kids. She was never there for us, her boyfriends were more important to her. When I was a kid, if it hadn't been for my grandmother, I may not have had clothes to wear, and food to eat. I'm now 26 years old, and I can't stop hating her for what she said, but I find myself constantly wanting her approval of me, just like when I was kid, and she brushes me off like I don't matter. It really hurts. What the hell is so wrong with me that I can't grow up, and move on? She's never going to change her mind. And I'm always going to be the reason her life never turned out right.

The three religions agree on one basic fact: Both women and men are created by God, The Creator of the whole universe.

However, disagreement starts soon after the creation of the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve. The Judaeo-Christian conception of the creation of Adam and Eve is narrated in detail in Genesis (2:4-24).

God prohibited both of them from eating the fruits of the forbidden tree. The serpent seduced Eve to eat from it and Eve, in turn, seduced Adam to eat with her.

When God rebuked Adam for what he did, he put all the blame on Eve,

"The woman you put here with me --she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it."(Genesis, 3: 12).

Consequently, God said to Eve:

"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you." (Genesis, 3: 16).

To Adam He said:

"Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree of which I forbideen you to eat, “ Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life..." (Genesis, 3: 17).

The Islamic conception of the first creation is found in several places in the Qur’an, for example:

"O Adam dwell with your wife in the Garden and enjoy as you wish but approach not this tree or you run into harm and transgression. Then Satan whispered to them in order to reveal to them their shame that was hidden from them and he said: 'Your Lord only forbade you this tree lest you become angels or such beings as live forever.' And he swore to them both that he was their sincere adviser. So by deceit he brought them to their fall: when they tasted the tree their shame became manifest to them and they began to sew together the leaves of the Garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: 'Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you that Satan was your avowed enemy?' They said: 'Our Lord we have wronged our own souls and if You forgive us not and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be lost' " (7:19:23).

A careful look into the two accounts of the story of the Creation reveals some essential differences.

The Qur’an, contrary to the Bible, places equal blame on both Adam and Eve for their mistake. Nowhere in the Qur’an can one find even the slightest hint that Eve tempted Adam to eat from the tree or even that she had eaten before him. Eve in the Qur’an is no temptress, no seducer, and no deceiver. Moreover, Eve is not to be blamed for the pains of childbearing. God, according to the Qur’an, punishes no one for another's faults. Both Adam and Eve committed a sin[2]and then asked God for forgiveness and He forgave them both.

Whose fault is it when you have people living in places adjacent to abandoned, burnt out, boarded up buildings? And then expect the people in that neighborhood to keep up there own property.

made me want to ask if others have ever been turned on or turned off by the way someone said their name, or pronounced it?

My name is often mispronounced and it took until the last few years before I would correct people on the pronumciation. My exhusband said it in a way that I absolutely hated and thought it was funny, so of course he did it all the time. Then I had a boyfriend who, when he said my name, he made it so beautiful and deep that I melted everytime I heard it. I didn't like my name until then....now, lol, I really pay attention to the way it is said....praticularly in intimate situations.....

Anyone else have similar experiences? See, my name is Audra...people always say Audrey, Andrea.....its been a pain. Now I like it, but I am pretty firm on people pronouncing it correctly.

lol, this is the best category I could come up with as the question only refers to the song...its def not going under music!
