In discussing the Bible with Christians, when referencing verses in the Old Testament, I've often been told that Christians do not follow the Old Testament, making my arguments inapplicable in the discussion.
I've since asked Christian friends why, then, do they follow the Ten Commandments, as the only times they are formally listed are in the Old Testament?
They're response has been that Christians follow the New Testament, as that is what has been written since the coming of Jesus, whom Christians accept as their savior. However, where there are "holes" in the New Testament (as they put it), they refer to the Old Testament to "fill in the blanks."
Are there any other blanks that need filling in the New Testament, other than what can be filled with the Ten Commandments? If so, what are they, and what verses in the Old Testament fill them?
Do any Christians have any other, completely different, explanations for these queries?
