What is a good halloween costume for a 20 month old boy that can be made with stuff around the house?

One year I took a pajama sleeper with a hood on it and sewed on ears and a tail to make a puppy.

If you weren't too worried about a mess, you could make him a fix-it man. Take some black grease, not too much since you don't want him getting it in his mouth or eyes, and smear a little on his cheeks and some playclothes. Take some very small tools and slide them through a belt at his waist, as there you go. Maybe tousel his hair a bit for added affect.
A marshmallow might be easy too. Put him in white clothes, wrap a pillow around him, and use a pillowcase to keep it on. If you made him a hat out of cardboard (fairly easy. If nothing else, just glue a sheet of cardboard to a hat that fits him) he could be a s'more, minus the chocolate... thus explaining why he must trick-or-treat.
If he has a little suit (some kids do, some don't) you could dress him in that, and give him a briefcase (you might have to carry it for him most of the time), and he could be a lawyer. People always seem to think that one's cute.

He could be a puppy or a cat. The dog is pretty easy to do. If you have black clothes that you could use that would be great. Then from there try and make some hears or you could use some make up and make up his ears. With the make up also paint his nose with a black eye pencil or what ever works and go from there. Add in the dog tail with things you find around the house.
