I wasn't aware that Yahoo had done such a thing. IF they have, it will be to make money.
As to how long this question will stay is any body's guess.

Yahoo are not supplying names of Chinese dissidents to the authorities, they get $ 25 per name so they dont care whether the person concerned is a dissident or not, a name is a name $25 is $25,

Yahoo want to do business in china to earn money. They will do it until enough people complain to give them a bad name.
