I'd love to hear thoughts about this, including links and further reading. What are your thoughts about this line of thinking? I like to think there can be some flexibility here, but at the same time I'm cautious along those lines of the "adding to/taking from" warning that is also scriptural. In any case,

- Could a day of creation in actuality be thousands/millions of years?
- Could evolution play out to a point where an Adam individual inherits the "breath of life" through ?

I've also heard theories to the extent that there was no literal 7 days, but instead God created everything in an instance (not sure who proposed this teaching, but it's an interesting one.)

Serious answers please. Thanks.

I am newly re-accepting God as my Saviour. I have just begun reading my Bible and I'm wondering if the bad things that happen is the devil or is it God trying to bring us closer to Him? Like for instance a car wreck that takes someones life, or a shooting at a school that leaves a 16 yr old girl dead. Or when someone commites suicide. I really needs help with this.

I have a friend--actually we'll call him an aquaintance more than a friend--who is really ugly. In the past I've told him that he's got a face like:

- a bee keeper's apprentice
- a welder's bench

...and various other things. Whilst I'm sure he'd prefer I didn't, he's never seemed to get that miffed.

This morning I told him that his best hope of ever having a social life would be to befriend the blind, refrain from letting them touch his face, and come up with a good excuse to explain the screams that follow him around.

Now he's not talking to me. What do you think has prompted this change in behaviour? Do you agree that he's being a bit prissy?

If God was a woman I think she would have re-written the part about marriage.
Because somewhere along the line in some funky translation they said it was okay for a man to have many wives. That doesn’t seem entirely fair. What about women? We should be able to have lots of husbands. Shouldn’t we? Where is the equality in that?

I would take more than one husband, but let me tell you right now… I am soooo not doing the laundry!

If I am content to be as God has made me and I am happy living the 'role' of Christian wife and mother is that not my choice? I personally see trying to be masculine as degrading. Being female does not make me less than a man.

Why would a "god" send some of the greatest thinkers, inventors and contributors to society to hell for all of eternity?

Benjamin Franklin:
"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies......Lighthouses are more helpful then churches."

Albert Einstein: "If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for a reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed."

Galileo Galilei:
"They know that it is human nature to take up causes whereby a man may oppress his neighbor, no matter how unjustly. ... Hence they have had no trouble in finding men who would preach the damnability and heresy of the new doctrine from the very pulpit."

Thomas Edison:
"Religion is all bunk."

Thomas Paine – Author of "Common Sense":
"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind".

I have a friend(in her 50's) japanese woman i met in chat. She got married with an american. and now they live in the usa. She's having such a hard time. The town is kind of the country side, there's no japanese community, she doesn't know english. Husband doesn't teach her. He doesn't attempt to learn japanese. husband doesn't give her rides .. she doesn't know how to use the Bus system in the usa . She often cries because she feels in a strange land without help. I don't understand how people get into this kind of relationships.
