Why would a "god" send some of the greatest thinkers, inventors and contributors to society to hell for all of eternity?

Benjamin Franklin:
"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies......Lighthouses are more helpful then churches."

Albert Einstein: "If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for a reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed."

Galileo Galilei:
"They know that it is human nature to take up causes whereby a man may oppress his neighbor, no matter how unjustly. ... Hence they have had no trouble in finding men who would preach the damnability and heresy of the new doctrine from the very pulpit."

Thomas Edison:
"Religion is all bunk."

Thomas Paine – Author of "Common Sense":
"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind".

If the bible is true, the most common sin is for Christians to demonstrate intelligence.

And, any such demonstration will result in eternal punishment. Not only will the Christian heaven be populated with murderers, rapists, thieves, liars and other miscreants, they will be surrounded by morons.

Sounds much like a typical Christian church.

God doesn't condemnn nobody to hell the truth of the matter is that you condem your self buy not accepting Jesus as his son . god hard wires everybody to worship something your choices are far from the truth. In a small village in Africa a king ask a peasant that he wanted to sleep with his wife the peasant responded no !the king ask why? the peasant responded it is wrong . with no education no knowledge of any god the peasant knew it was wrong why? that's the hard drive i was speaking of. you have wittiness creation on a first hand basis look all around you . you just choose to continue to try to persecute Christians you are just a modern Saul ,you know the true and living god i don't know your motive but ignorance will be know excuse on judgment day stop reading so much and get quiet in fact go up to the mountains this weekend and just ask him, if he's real to reveal him self to you. (buy the way one top pick is ray comfort www the way of the master hope you like habanero ? )this will be the last communication with you into you expose your motives because i have a feeling your just fishing and i got to help people that are sincere. I look forward to be with Jesus someday what do you look forward too? death Did you know that the bible stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth ( good look ?)

Is this addressed to atheists and agnostics, or about them? Because I'd think atheists and agnostics would more or less agree with you.

Ooh, and don't forget good ol' Thomas Jefferson. I love the Jefferson Bible, which is pretty readily available--he decided he liked the doing good stuff parts but not the God parts and edited the New Testament with a razor blade. Makes for an awesome read.

These "Greatest Thinkers of the World" that you quote are considered great by man.

To God these people are nothing more than those who reject the truth of God for a lie. Read Romans 1:20

I'll take God's word over theirs any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

As I have said before and many times before that. Religions and I do mean all of them are creations of man to control man. All religions say they are loving and then reach fear, hatred and bigotry. Now I will be the one to get a lot of crap from the closed minds of the faithful.

Faith in something they can't even explain.

You have to remember that the devil is at work on earth too. If a person, no matter how intelligent, listens to the wrong voice they will be led astray.
Besides that, you never know who accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior just before they died...those "great thinkers" could be in heaven!

God needs a better new and improved Nemesis in order to get better himself. Didn't you see the Matrix?

because there is no everlasting burning hell. only the lake of fire where once they are cast into, they will burn up like a piece of tissue in a camp fire. all gone.

besides unless you are one of God's few chosen, predestinated and elect, you will be cast into the lake of fire, too. you don't have to be intelligent.
