My Grandmother, though she past by my age of 10, I visit her graveside and talk to her like we've been together ever since. (I know it sounds kinda crazy, but true)

You call this easy?! Far from it!

There are a lot of people that I identify with that touch me on some level. I love the insightful wit of Lewis Black, the diffused view of life that Renoir gives in his paintings, the writing and film work of Woody Allen, the deep perspective of mythology that Joseph Campbell dishes up, music that spans from roots music to Motown, to Debussy, but if I were to pick just one person, I guess that person would have to be,

Billie Holiday.

She came from a difficult background. Her mother was a prostitute and she grew up in a brothel. With no voice training whatsoever, she created a new way of approaching the music of jazz and blues. When I first experienced her voice at 19, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. Such a unique and unusual voice but what she was doing rhythmically quite literally blew my mind. I had to try it myself. I had to learn what she seemed to do so effortlessly. It's called "back singing" and Billie put it on the map.

When I learned more about her, how she rose to fame but just couldn't handle her personal demons, I felt as though she was my fairy godmother. I connected with her on so many levels because she mirrored a lot of what I'd be going through myself.

A great lady, a creative, innovative musician and performer, and a woman who didn't win the battle and died too young.

Mr. Duchovny,

That's not so easy!

Biblically, I think that Peter was the one I indentify with the most. Though at times, Paul is the one I feel akin to, especially when battling the legalists of Christianity, who don't know that they are legalists.

Ironically, in television, I identify with Fox Mulder. I saw a UFO, and have had Lucid Dreams, many dispute what I saw, and what I've dreamt, though of course, I remain convinced. I also have certain conspiracy theories concerning different nations of the world, though they do not consume me.

I'm really thinking about this, so I'm taking my time.

EDIT: In movies, Lawrence Fishburn in the Matrix as Morpheus. He had a strong faith in Neo, as Neo was a type of savior, yet many did not believe him. I endeavor to not extend myself beyond what can be known as he did, where his faith was challenged because of his mistake, and perhaps the Smith phenomenon.

Historically, Martin Luther, I suppose. He was challenging a State Church, which was the Roman Catholic Church. The RCC had the authority to put people like him to death. They did it for years before, and they did it for years after, so why not Martin Luther? I wondered why didn't they just send in the Inquisitors and have him killed? Martyr or not, it didn't stop them before!

I relate to Martin Luther not because my 'religion' is so close to his, I think that he was rather idolatrous, but because he stood against the message of the day. Once again, those fundies with the message of condemnation are at the center of my concern. Rather, those that they infect with their message are the center when it comes to the fundy message.

William Blake. Seemingly crazy mystic who saw God in haystacks and then wrote amazing works about it? OK, maybe not *exactly* the same, but there's a link there.

And pfft, this was the hardest question you've asked all day--this one I had to think on a bit. :D

Neil Peart, the drummer from RUSH, ir you're old enough to know who I'm talking about. An intelligent, articulate, extremely talented drummer who taught me many lessons - how to play the drums for sure, but mostly about life.

Princess Diana. I do what's expected, and try to help my fellow man whenever I can. I have always been afraid of dying in a car accident, and I feel it is a warning of a possible future event for me. I often have expensive gifts given to me, but the motivation behind them isn't what it should be.

Joan of Arc. I'm always being called a trouble-maker, and I try not to make "trouble". I just want to help, mostly. I don't accept limitations on self or social/gender roles either.

Well, I'll have to say Madeline Kahn. She was a strong lady, very funny and sexy. She came from a divorced family and didn't have an easy childhood, yet she still rose above it and created success in her life....I love that.

Paul the Apostle.
Like Paul I was a persecutor of the Church, now touched by God almighty. I am an ambassador for Jesus Christ, and speak for God to show people the way.
