If God was a woman I think she would have re-written the part about marriage.
Because somewhere along the line in some funky translation they said it was okay for a man to have many wives. That doesn’t seem entirely fair. What about women? We should be able to have lots of husbands. Shouldn’t we? Where is the equality in that?

I would take more than one husband, but let me tell you right now… I am soooo not doing the laundry!

if God was a woman, there would be about 7000 commandments. such as

thou shalt by thine wife 30 pairs of shoes monthly, one for each day.

Carlos Mencia did a funny spoof about God being a woman ... he joked that the Bible was too big and if God was a man then the Bible would simply say, "Be Good". He also joked that since Moses had to spend two years on the mountain that God was a chick who gabbed too much and kept Moses there perpetually.

Really though, men got multiple wives 'cas they killed each other in war. All young men gatered and waged war on each other leaving only old men to care for all the widow's and orpahn's ... another reason to find peacful solutions ... save young cute men!!!

Ah, war's were usually started when there was a shortage of women (dying from disease, climate changes, and child birth). So, historically, it looks like a vicious cycle.

I can kinda see the way some cultures treat their women why they're angry ... it's 'cas they don't have enough women, and this is making them angry (since women are basically peaceful) and uprising against society. Psychologically speaking, men can't share. Sure they will be peaceful when they're center of attention, but they get angry & posturious when there is a shortage.

Sorry, I'm thinking more like my Economist today rather than religious ... but Economics & Religion do complement each other.

I take my laundry to the cleaners. It only takes me about an hour or so a month to earn that much cash. It's professionally done, and somebody else makes a living doing that mundane task. I'd hire a maid too, but hey; keeping the place 80% clean isn't that much effort and why get anal about the last 20%?

As for the rest, you have to separate religion from God. Originally, it was the "gods" and goddesses. Men rewrote the text to promote a male monotheism (badly, by the way, they left a lot of the plural references in the text). They had their own agenda, of course, and it sounds a lot better coming from God than from them (preachers still use this ploy today).

The Bible condems homosexuality as an "abomination". It uses the exact same word to condemn someone who wears clothing made from two different types of cloth. I guess that means anyone wearing a cotton/polyester blend is just as big a sinner as someone who's gay? Depends on what verse you choose to emphasize, doesn't it?

As for equality, women will never be equal to men; just as apples will never be equal to oranges. Both valuable, both unique. But we're different, not equivalent. The "rules" that govern our behavior are just those imposed by others. No matter what they say, God had very little to do with any of them. We can accept them or not. If you want a dozen husbands, fine with me... it's really none of my business, is it? If I want a dozen wives, that's really none of your business either. Why should there be a rule for either of us?

By the way, if you do find a dozen husbands, get at least one who will pay for the laundry. :)

God is a woman. She is the Goddess and known by many names: Isis, Gaia, Diana, Hathor, Guadalupe, and others.

According to Wicca, there is a handfasting rite that takes the place of marriage. It is a monogamous venture binding 2 people together for a year and a day, or for so long as they love one another. A much more flexible system. Divorce would be a handparting rite, where the two leave each other on good terms.

God was obviously insane when he wrote those words. An all-knowing God would have known long ago He'd create my girlfriend. And trust me, when every man on this planet had a wife like my girlfriend, they wouldn't even feel the need to have more wives.

So, either God was temporary insane when he wrote this nonsense about marriage, or He's just not all-knowing.

My own morals tell me something very differently btw. I don't believe in adultery or polygamy. I'm a guy who does laundry, I even like to iron, but I'm very faithful, sorry :)

At the time that was written, it was important for important men to have sons, the one way they could guarantee that was to have many wives - but , in this day and age when sons are no longer that important women should be able to have as many husbands as they like. Start a campaign, I'm with you on this one

I like to think that there is a Goddess up there telling God what to do.

The bible says that a woman shall put herself unto submission to her husband. Yet further proof that the bible was written by men.

Ethology is defined as the biology of behavior and is a branch of psychology studies. It basically says that behaviors evolve because those behaviors increased the chances of those doing them of passing their genetic material to future generations, and that nonadaptive behaviors tend to kill off people so they can't pass on their genes. After all, when was the last time you heard of a guy showing up for a date wearing a clown nose?

We are God, she/he and it, you and God are a team. The bible is written by humans to control people, for there is nothing more powerful or dangerous than people thinking for themselves.Marriage was another human invention. Write your own bible, live your own truth, if having more than one man is the thing for you, then go ahead.

Katy_Kat,

I like your comments - and I am sorry you do not believe in God - I would have thought holding a new born baby in your hands may have changed your mind!

I also like the laundry comment - good luck in your job!
