according to the laws of science ( to the best of our knowldge ). So isnt science the only way to understand the mysteries of the universe ? When all experience could be reduced to processes of nurophysiology, why do mystic experience deserve a special place in philosopy ?

I think most people in my community are very open-minded, it’s very diverse. However, Being a Mexican we tend to use adjectives to refer to each other that may seem like insults to everyone one else. For example, most of us call each other fatty (gordis), black one (negrita/o), brown one (Moreno/a), curly haired (chino), skinny, old, light skinned one, one that looks like an Indian, the list goes on. We use these adjectives with each other as terms of affection, but a few of my friends, especially those who are not Latino and are just learning Spanish, can’t seem to relate. A few have told me we are just being mean to each other in a passive aggressive manner.

Yesterday I asked a question about a dream I had (chq it for more info) and I did as one guy told me and put the hamster in the shoe filled with raspberry slushie (made from ice chipped out of my freezer). The hamster was a little shocked and ran under my TV cabinet and I thought never mind and went to bed. When I woke up today I was watching TV and there was a loud pop. I checked behind the TV and the hamster had chewed through the TV cable and had been electricuted. I'm not sure what to do as it was my freinds hamster and he has gone on holiday..also my girlfreind will be upset as the TV doesn't work and it's the second one I've broken in six months...Please help!

I've read and heard that people in America and around the world fault Muslims for not enough outcries against the terrorists. I think those who say this feel their perceived silence from us means we are supporting terrorists. Well that is not true. We do speak out against the terrorists, but we are not given the same airtime to shout loud enough to the terrorist to stop! But I feel that is partially my fault. So what would you like me to do to shout louder so that we can be heard? Is public access TV a good route? Should we buy space in the New York or LA Times or Washington Post? Go to Congress or get on Larry King? What do we need to do... would you please let us know? Help us out so we can make things right. Thank you in advance.

P.S. One thing I will not do is use violence, so no point in suggesting it.

I used to be in an atheist ..now I don't know...I started reading the bible and honestly I think that it was very well written...it is hard for me to believe a human thought of making up a story like this one....
what's your opinion???

as a devout christian, i know that there r many positive things in the bible, meant for a better life. but, it's true that there are negative aspects of any item also. 2 of the bible which i was thnking abt are:
1) most of the women in the bible are portrayed as merely MACHINES which give babies, or harlots or sinful, nothing else. they're just there to make up that BEGOT space in the bible
2) the statement that JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS is exaggerated. there is no practical effect of this in the world. the world is morally corrupt as ever
what's the meaning behind just saying tht accept jesus for ur salvation for an eternal life......when life on earth is so bad???

I want sensible answers for believers mostly, not atheists.

Since America is the only country on the face of this Earth that doesn't use metric, do you think we need to switch? Metric is so much easier than our imperial system. So so you think we should also switch to celsius? I mean fahrenheit is just a dumbed down version of celsius, a 0-100 scale instead of a 0-32 scale. And do you think we should switch our dates to day/month/year instead of month/day/year?

These are things the rest of the world uses, and America doesn't for some unknown reason.

OK....Tomorrow I die. Boom!! I wake up in heaven. I see God. Know what I'm going to do? I will walk up to God and grab him by his neck and say " Stop the wars and stop the sickness. Help the homeless and spread love and brotherhood on earth"...... With that I will be willing to go to hell. At least I know I will see my friends and family. Do you think God will be shocked? I bet no one has ever told him off before. I will be the first. Anyone proud of me?

As a Muslim, I feel much love and respect for my Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Native American, Hindu and general spiritual but non-committed to any religious friends. We've discussed much, drank coffee or tea together and at one time smoked much pot together. We've never judged, hated or disrespected each other. In fact we're always fascinated and intrigued with each other's point of view. So when I read Muslims are all about hate... I'm floored!!! I just don't get where that person is coming from.

I understand with the war on terror that some people need to label all that belong to a certain group as the enemy... but it's never true. What about Romeo and Juliet? that was a story about people who are supposed to be enemies actually falling in love. I think Shakespeare was a very wise man for writing this play. I feel a lot of our younger generation from opposite faiths will fall in love and marry, much to the chagrin of their bias parents. Just my thoughts...

only believers saw him...i.e. Mary, Peter, John. Thomas (doubting Thomas) had to have proof and he was satisfied, like I said, only believers saw Him then and only believers see Him today, non-believers didn't see Him then nor will they see Him now. Amen.
