Being myself is behaving according to my own beliefs, taking my own decisions with out any external pressure and living my life the way i want it to be.

Following your own beliefs and ideas.

I once knew a girl--in her mid 20s--who had no idea who she was. What do I mean? She had no interests. She defined herself by whoever she happened to hang around at the time. She didn't have a favorite song. Or a favorite show or a favorite anything. She didn't collect anything. Most people collect *somthing*. She would claim her favorite song was whatever yours was. Her favorite movie or tv show? Whatever yours was. When we started hanging out she started copying my taste in home decor. Her house was the same floor plan as mine and she began to copy my house exactly. Opinions on politics? Whatever yours are. She had no idea how to be herself.

Being yourself is following your own interests and not caring what others think. You respect other's and their interests but you don't let them define who you are. You define yourself.

Being comfortable in your skin and in your beliefs.
Knowing that what you say, do, and think are aligned. (Very hard though!)

One of our largest struggles is maintaining this balance as people with different belief systems are coming at us from all sides. And the tough part is, sometimes you have to let them in to be a better person too. The part about being yourself is when you know which people you want to let in and which people you don't.

Pulling yourself out of the rest of the world for a bit each day in order to figure out where *you* stand on everything under the sun, and then proceeding to go back in with that mindset held firm.
