Someone in a previous post offered the Pledge of Allegiance as proof that America was founded as a Christian nation. You people do realize that the words "Under God" weren't added until 1954, right?

If you are interested in having a discussion between faiths/lack of faith i.e. theists with atheists, christians with muslims, etc., what would you want to talk about? Something beyond the typical mindless "How can you not believe in God?", "How can you believe in God?", "Why do you believe in a book that teaches terrorism?" questions. Something that actually invites discussion rather than finger-pointing.

I'm having a birthday party for my husband soon and I know he loves baloons. But Anita in my Bible study group said that baloons are of pagan origin and should be avoided by true Christians. I don't want to offend Jesus, but I don't see how baloons could represent anything unwholesome. Do you?

When I ask "If God created us from dirt, why is there still dirt?" do you actually think I am being serious?

Of course, anyone with half a brain will realize that my question is satirizing the popular Christian question, "If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"

In reality, this question only proves one's ignorance of evolutionary theory. Nobody claims that modern species of monkeys are our ancestors. The theory is that we share a common ancestor, and this ancestral species has been phased out through evolution.

So why don't you educate yourself, and then also learn how to spot sarcasm on the internet?

In a court of law one needs evidence to proceed-this COUNTRY is based upon laws By For and of THE PEOPLE-it is high time that the people take back the country from the religious right-as you are pushing your beliefs into the WORLD VIEW which is exactly the opposite of what this country was based upon-WE escaped Monarchy and yet you would have us follow YOUR KING-It is not for you to decide-The Decision was made 200+ years ago but now you are trying to convert us back to your way of thinking which rest in a 2000 year old manuscript and you do this based on YOUR own beliefs that have caused the world to become a dangerous place to live. yesterday, my boyfriend told me that jesus went to hell to save those who didn't have a chance to repent (because jesus wasn't born yet) and brought them back to life (or to heaven, something like that)

i always think he's a big liar cause he's know for lying alot (not a good quality in a bf) so i went to his sister to confirm it and she said that a catholic (or someone who put the bible together) left that part out cause it was "too confusing".

can someone else confirm this for me? it sounds true but it's not in the bible and christians only follow the word of God (right?) and even if it is true, i don't think anyone has the right to leave something that extreme out of the bible.

i want people from all religions to help me answer this so i don't only get one side of the story.

i'm not a christian yet, i'm discovering christianity and seeing if it's the right path for me.
