Traditionally they're not supposed to, that's part of the reason for the sporren -- to keep things in, ahem, place. But I think you would be hard pressed to find a modern kilt-wearing man who doesn't wear some form of underwear.

Since I don't have any knowledge of this I will give you my opinion.

Yes men wear their usual undergarments under their kilts. Perhaps the kinky ones go bare - who knows?

Yes, My brother played in the ROTC marching band. It requires underwear because of the wrap around design of the kilt. Scotland in true tradition may do differently.

this is knowledge,my ex is from Scotland and he wore nothing under it unless competing in the Highland Games or something!
