There is a verse in Quran [4:34] that says if you fear your wife will not obey you then advise her, don't share her bed and BEAT her. I have asked many Muslim scholars about this verse and they said that the beating should be very lightly. However, I found many Muslim books rely on a story told by prophet Muhammed in their explanasion for the verse:

The story is that there was a woman who complained to prophet Muhammed that her husband slapped her on face and left marks on her face, then prophet Muhammed said that the husband should be punished, but God sent him this verse at this very moment so that prophet Muhammed turned the woman back and said that this is what god wants!

How come god allow wives to be beaten although that was not common practice before Islam?

Ok when I go out to partys or bars lets say, my str8 cuzin gets hit on more by guys. If kind of pisses me off, because to me he is not that good looking, I am not saying I am perfect, but I get hit on by more girls than he does. Few examples (1. this last week at the bar this girl wanted to dance with me and I told her I was 2 shy, my cuzin asked her to dance, she said she no and said he must be crazy (it was a harsh burn, but funny) (2. he gets the guy looking at him in the bathroom who is gay). What the hell is going on?

After the Christian Right does or doesn't get their way with laws pertaining to homosexuals, who will be next? They say that the Bible only talks about a man and a woman, nothing about couples of the same sex. So what next interracial couples? The Bible doesn't talk about it, so it must be wrong! Is it me or is this kind of reasoning nucking futs?

okay so ive been arounf the religion and spirituality section and i saw a thread asking if atheism is a religion. not surprisingly i got alot of dumbas*es saying that it requires more faith not to belevie in god than to beleive in god.

im curious if you can explain your claim. how does it take more faith to NOT beleive in something rather than to believe in it.

which takes more faith? beleving in the lochness monster (regardless of the severe lack of evidence) or NOT.

if you look at faith like money...atheists invest none...christians invest some....so using christian logic...the atheist that invests none is more successful?

explain HOW it takes more faith NOT to beleive in a god.

when i was a yound student my english teacher pointed out when i told someone that "My cousin sister works in US" that it's wrong to say cousin sister or cousin brother... one should only say "My cousin works in US".

If its right how can one decide if the cousin is a girl or a guy.

It use to be that you could come to America poor and gain wealth. Now it is very unlikley if you are born middle or lower class that you could be Higher class by the end of your life, or even the end of your grandchildrens lives.

My husbond and I were laying in the spoon postion asleep when something woke my husbond up out of a dead sleep. He said that it felt like something had nudged him and then he heard a loud pop. He said that when he opened his eyes he saw a red orb coming out of my chest and the further it came out the bigger it got until it was completely out of me then it shot off in a direction that was 45 degrees from the one it was rising out of me. It just went out of the window making no sound. He said it was red with a million little red orbs inside of it. Is there any explanation out there for me?

Asians are quite too smart, have too strange beliefes and look too different from other people to be human. Could they be an alien race that came on Earth thousands of years ago to creat a community because their planet was approaching its end. The reason they might not know it or mention it is because they are afraid they might scare us if we knew their true identity.
