What will provoke the 3rd World War...I think that it will be a combination of things. Racism is a major consideration. There are so many tensions in the world, with whole groups of people that feel they are being oppressed by unfair representation. That is a cause of most wars and fightings in history. Also included in this is going to be religous intolerance. Look at the crusades. As to who will participate against who, Look to the middle east. Right now that is a political upheavel, and is degenerating to unstable. Whenever you see unstability, you see people trying to step in to stabilize. If the middle east fails to stabilize, that will be the start of a war and you will have a lot of countries involved. Some will become involved for a purley economic reason ie selling weapons and training to the initial fighting countries. Some will fight for "humanitarian reasons", while others will fight for or against because another country joined just because. But, with military readiness being what it is there isn't much likelihood of military invasion and swallowing up whole countries by one power. As far off base as the United Nations may be, they have been very active in the prevention of another so called world war. I do not think we will see another world war unless it is Racially driven, and countries just get sucked in. Our worlds leaders seem to be aware enough not to be sucked into a conflice without cause.

Ecology, soon the earth will not be able to support life as we know it. Countries will be forced to find reason to nuke the gluttonous countries to save resources. (the fall of Babylon in the bible)

RELIGION...not football or racism...Religion is use as vehicle to sow hatred, other factors are just smoke screen.
