when i was a yound student my english teacher pointed out when i told someone that "My cousin sister works in US" that it's wrong to say cousin sister or cousin brother... one should only say "My cousin works in US".

If its right how can one decide if the cousin is a girl or a guy.

How about:
"My female cousin works in U.S." or "My male cousin works in U.S."

That would be one way to tell the gender. The way you have written it originally sounds like you really mean:
"My cousin's sister (or brother) works in the U.S."

That's a totally different meaning. You are trying to get the point across the the cousin is a male or female; however, if you say it they way you did, then what happens is you end up with a possession issue (not to mention incorrect grammar), and you end up talking about your cousin's sibling instead of the cousin herself/himself.

Also, if you are writing this formally, not just speaking, you should write "United States" as opposedto using an abbreviation.

They would have to ask. Cousin means boy or girl.

"cousin sister" or "cousin brother" is wrong. becoz cousin is used for both male and female. if u wanna more specific u can use more sentances about him/her.

just like u can say she is with microsoft as SE.

Well, if you are discussing that your cousin works in the US, then you are most likely going to discuss his/her position at her job. That is how the gender will be specified/decided.

you might say "girl cousin" or "female cousin" if you want your listener to know your cousin's gender.
