Rather than god??????? That way no position or action could be defended by saying, "god said so" Muslims say god is on their side, christians on theirs.

If we practice "good" and accepted everything for no reason other than it is, the world would be a much better place.

Would you take a bullet for what you believe in? If someone pointed a gun at you and told you to remounce what you believe in, would you renounce or would you choose to die?

From what I've heard, an atheist is someone who says that there is no God. Right? But isn't that a universal statement? It's like saying, "There is no gold in China." But to say that, you have to look everywhere in China, under every rock, in every house, in every chinaman's mouth...And THEN you can say there is no gold in China if you find that to be true. To say that there is no God would mean that you have searched everywhere for God, and have found Him to not be anywhere, or that there is no evidence for Him. No man has done that. So if you're an atheist, you're not really, you're an agnostic, right? Which means that you don't know if there's a God or not. So shouldn't that mean that you should be more open to people who are seeking to give answers, and to really research and see if any of those answers are true? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Holy books instruct us to kill people for working on the wrong day (Exodus 31:15), or because they're homosexual (Leviticus 20:13), and millions believe these are the words of God, so is it possible that religions inherently breed violence, or is it just some religions, or do they only do so if people really take their religions seriously? Most people would condemn a person who said these things, so why do they worship gods who say them?

Thoughtful answers, please.

OK, they may not have to accept jesus, but while were on the topic, where do animals go when they die, and how?

I mean in christian theory, you need christ in your heart to go to heaven otherwise you go to hell right?

Now if you hate nor don't beileve in him, then this question is not for you.Why when people say that this man/woman"is my everything" God is your everything. You put the one you love second.God should always come first, thats what my grandma taught me,she was a very wise woman. And I just wanna thank god for helping me see.Im still a bit blind but I will see in no time.I'm not blind for those people who don't understand the metaphor I just said.It just means im understanding him more and more everyday.

Seriously, I believe there is a god, but I don't believe he has ever told any man what he truly desires. I'm not a religous person, but in arguments, I've told religious nuts that unless god comes down and tells me they're right, they're full of it! I believe that all god wants is for people to coexist in harmony in the best way possible without being greedy, sociopathic or uncharitable. I don't believe any freaking Bible of Koran, right down to the passage, is any kind of guide for how people should live. In fact, it's dangerous if some looney tunes(and there are too many) start taking the words and passages literally and cause harm to themselves and others. This is true for all religions, especially Islam, but also Chrisitianity!

Sometimes when I read answers here and see people respond with specific passages from the Bible, I get shivers down my spine! I fear many are misinterpreting the passages, giving them a warped impression of what god "wants".

I believe that our moral code arose from survival needs of small tribes. An example being that murder is wrong, is because it decreases the tribes numbers and weakens the tribe.
From this arose mythology and religion. I just wonder, with todays knowledge, why do people still have belief in gods and i wonder how long it will take before humanity forgets about them altogether.

"I wonder how many people will be humping His leg, the day of salvation, begging Him, to forgive?
I wonder how many He will simply shake His leg and you stop humping?" I thought this deserved some attention. Any thoughts?

just a funny thought.

Have a good weekend.

I don't think I'm crazy at all.

By the way, I saw a KY question on here from another Yahoo! user, and I'd figure I'd ask a question while it was fresh on my mind.

The land is beautiful; I love Land Between the Lakes, Natural Bridge, and Cumberland Falls, to name a few. However, the people are rude and impolite. I work two jobs--one in government and one in retail--and the best people I deal with are from outside Kentucky, places like Michigan, New Jersey, Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, etc. Kentuckians are clipped, impolite, hateful, and don't say "please" and "thank you." I'm nice, friendly, polite, smiling, outgoing type, by the way. Anyway, I've been up north, out in the midwest and southwest, deep south, Florida, and up to NYC and NJ. While there are nice and mean people everywhere, KY has some major snobs. Even just a few weeks ago, I was going to Memphis and made two stops. Fulton, KY was rude and hateful; JUST 40 miles south in Dyersburg, TN it was warm and friendly.
