It's okay to be yourself.

Of course this answer is something which you must find yourself. But if you are looking for opinions hear is mine: Homosexuality is a state of being which is disordered; there is little evidence that it is biologically determined. A great deal of research points to socialization and psychological causation. But all that aside, 'disordered' does not mean that you are a bad person. For example I have disorded vision 20/100 and 20/200 respectively. It is natural for a human being to have 20/20 vision hence I am visually disordered. However being gay (that is living a homosexually active lifestyle) is wrong. Reasons being that quite clearly the sexual organs are designed for the use of procreation, unitive purposes (this is a little more difficult to arrive at through the use of unaided reason.) Now you may think that I left out a function of sex namely pleasure but I did not for the pleasure of the act is a consequence (though a good one.) Take eating for example the purpose of eating is to repair you body yes some food tastes good (ice cream yummy) and some bad (broccoli uggg) but he pleasure of taste is not the point of eating but once again a consequence. Now for the purpose of answering your question I will only touch on the procreative aspect of the act. To participate in a sexual experience which does not have the procreative end of the act as its intent is unnatural (that is against natural law.) Since homosexual acts (means) lack the ability to bring about this end they are wrong. Notice the action is wrong not the state of being. So if by gay you mean of homosexual orientation my answer is yes, and if you mean living a actively homosexual lifestyle the answer is no.

In responce to some of the answers posted

Yoda Green "Anyone who answers no is either; terminally stupid, or an outright bigot." quite a statement I'm going to give yo uthe benifit of the doubt and take it tha you refer to the state no the action.

Now a word on intollerance and homophobia

First a definition of each:

Homophobia: an exaggerated, usually inexplicable and illogical fear of homosexual persons.

Tolerance: A respect for people but not agreement with their error or fault.

With those in mind I will takle Homophobia first strictly speacing as of a week ago this term was meaningless. Why? simply because it does not in fact exist. no one has been diagnosed with this a perhaps no on e ever will be. bob c refed to once having this condition but I would be inclinded to not belive him. If he was truly Homophobic every time he saw a homosexual he would react like a person who has another phobia say clostrophobia and when he friend "came out" I would expect him to have bolted for the door in fear ( a clostrophobic person being shoved into a locker type reaction.)

Now about tolerance ideas can not be tolerant only perople can. For example if J money should deside to live a gay life stylr (as I have defined the term.) I would hold that his actions wrong yet so long as he was only doing said actions with consenting age apropriate partners I would allow him the freedom to do as he wills. I would not arrest or physically impead him though I may talk to him, and I would do so becaue I hold that he as well as I was gifted with free-will by (here it comes) God and who am I to take away what he has granted. So you see me being tolerant means I tolerate a lesser evil in order to preserve a greater good.

Is it OK to have a gender preference of the same sex.

1 Cor 10:23-24. Emphasis on verse 24. [I insert this to demonstrate that I know the scriptures.] Homosexual relationships are forbidden, not homosexuals. [Again read the book.]

Is there a choice for gender preference? Some say no, its genetic, some say yes, its environmental. In truth, we have no clue.

You are what you are. Were you born that way or did you choose that way, really doesn't matter. You are what you are.

Now read 1 Cor 10:23-24. Emphasis on verse 24. Because that is your answer.

I used to be homophobic, until a close friend revealed his true self. Now, I sincerely believe that Gay people have simply been thrown a wild card from Mother nature. In retrospect, I was just ignorant. This is 2006. Do we really need to discuss this?!?

No it's not right to be gay. Because God made man and woman for a reason. So that we could reproduce and make other seeds for the world. So yes it is wrong to be gay.

Well it isnt natural. Sex is to make babies and men and men and women and women cant make a baby the natural way together. However everyone should accept all people. If someone wants to be gay and live a gay life then let them and dont judge them. We are all people and all people deserve freedom to be who they want to be and we all deserve respect.

It's okay to be gay, it's just not okay to have gay sex. The two things don't necessarily have to go together, you know.

Absolutely! Don't ask permission or the approval of others. You're never going to be able to make the entire world happy because we all have our different points of view. Some, as you can see, said no to your question, while others say yes. So.....be yourself, make yourself happy, be proud, and don't worry about what others may think. There are those who will be against it. But remember there are always those of us who are not.

Blessed Be!

God doesn't think so._____

Romans 1:26-32: "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Oh and my own answer is this : If you deep down believe that what you are doing is right then do it. Its not for the rest of us to judge. ( I myself am straight and always will be)
