Some religions were made to control the minds and bodys of the people in that area. Others were made to explain things they could'nt other-wise understand. The world isn't flat, is it ? The earth isn't the center of the universe.
People fear death. People fear the unknown. Men made up the devil as a all in one scapegoat. Of course all evil on earth comes from man himself. It's just most men don't have the nads to admit it. Christians need to realize there is more than one religion in the world. How nice they think theirs is the only "real" one ! Non-sense ! They can't all be right, but they can be all wrong !
We may never know "where" we came from, or how the universe came to be. I
think we will destroy ourselves before we come to our senses...

It is believed that ancient people first started to believe in spritual beings around 30,000 years ago, from when the earilest known fossil of a buried person has been found. But people from then all the way up until now see a sense of relief and trust in God(s) that He/She/It/They will provide them with something once it is time to die.
I mean, what would happen if there really was no sort of God? No place to really start life from, that matter has been here forever disproving Einstien's theory of energy loss through energy leakages in the fabric of the Universe. It would also mean that there is no afterlife once we die, and that nothing ever happens after that. It's a scary thought so people believe in Gods no matter what the modern media says about the topic. People need to feel secure, otherwise a sense of panic and fear will spread throughout the world's population causing mass crime, suicide, and utter moral decline since it would mean that no one anywhere would be keeping a record of how good or bad we have been.

With death staring at people in the face, it's tough to try to handle these hardships alone. I've been told by religious people, that if they didn't believe in god that they'd go crazy. Even though I don't believe, I do understand this feeling. I've noticed that it's mostly older people that believe in god, and sometimes people after they get older that convert. There are younger people that believe in god, though, so it's not just the elderly people.
In a way, it's cool, because there are positive things about religion, or some aspects of it. Morality, ethics, being nice, turning the other cheek instead of having a knee-jerk reaction and hurting someone, etc...
One of the things I don't like about it is when people get self-righteous, and condemn nonbelievers.

Most people believe in only one God. The Creator of the World and everything in it. Some call Him Yahweh, some call Him Jesus, Some Alla. He does exist and He manifests Himself in the beauty of nature, in Our Hearts where He teaches us to Love one another, and in the fact that He sent His Son to earth to die for our sins so that He can be with us in Eternal bliss in Heaven. The commandments he gave us are all for our own good so that we can live right and love our neighbor as ourselves. If everyone evolved from animals and if everything we know came from practices of primitive tribes and that's all then I see no sense in that. Those who believe in God live with peace and hope which brings joy and happiness. There will never be a time that people do not believe in God and His Church will prevail against all evil that tries to destroy it even until the end of time. All I can say is Poor God. He is so maligned and so misunderstood, and He has done nothing but love us unconditionally and will never give up on us even if we give up on Him. Praise be His Holy Name.

I personally think it's so that people have a saftey net to fall back on. It things get really bad, they'll be able to go, "God will get me through it," or whatever. For me, it's just a nice thing that I can believe in, so that I can hope for better times. It may or may not be accurate, or even true, but if you believe in it, and that motivates you to get through it and then you do, isn't that reason enough to believe?
In response to people saying, "Brainwash", don't you think that's a little judgemental? If they want to believe it, and it's not hurting you, couldn't you just let them be? I can see that for the more extreme religions that force themselves on others, but not all religions are like that, not even all of Christianity.

Humanity will never stop believing in some type of God. The real question is when will humanity start believing in the one true God of the world and his son Jesus Christ. What about the knowledge of today would refute the fact that there is a God? It should give proof of a real living God.

So many things seem to happen "by coincidence", but looking back, everything is related, everything happens for a reason. We are not in charge of our own destinies like we want to believe we are. The choices are put out there, but not by humans.
If you ever sit in solitude, think and pray, give thanks and pray some more, believe with your heart, not your mind, you'll see why humanity believes in gods.

Most people know deep down inside that there is some thing bigger than themselves, so they search and or make up something to fill this "God spot". The real question is why is it or who put it there?

Because most of them are intellectual cripples and need some sort of crutch. I for one feel nothing but pity for these people.
Thankfully there are fewer and fewer of them in the world.
