I would choose to die. Jesus loved me so much that He took my sins upon the cross and laid down His life that I might have eternal life with Him.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

For me, whatever I happen to believe in will always forgive me and will not only forgive, but understand the situation I was in. I would 'renounce' it, but honestly, I don't think it's possible to renounce something if you don't truly want to. If you don't want to, then you're obviously lying. However..
I'm assuming you're talking about religion here. I would have no problem renouncing my religion, because with what I believe, that would be OK. However, if the situation was something to the effect of my best friend being harassed because of his sexuality, now then...damn, I would kill them. I'm very loyal and believe in equality, so yeah I'd be willing to take a bullet for that.

If you had asked me that question ten years, or even fewer years ago, I would have easily renounced what I had believed then...
But not today. I'm only too glad to have found what I have sought for most of my [early and adult] life --after having left behind the religion of my fathers-- and I can unequivocably declare that my Faith now has increased tenfold since then.
And without any hesitation whatsoever, I will DEFINITELY take the bullet for what I believe in today.
Peace be with you!

Since I mostly believe that we can't be sure about anything, it would be hard to renounce it without actually affirming it at the same time. Although why anyone would want to shoot someone for simply not being sure about stuff is beyond me.
Actually, I guess I would have to say that my current beliefs at any given time would quickly come to agree with any nutcase pointing a gun at me. Whatever his religion was, that would suddenly be my religion too, (at least temporarily).

There has to be some degree of tact in this sort of situation. Its a false dicotomy to assume that you either renounce and live OR refuse and die. There are other options, you could lie and tell this person you are renouncing your faith, and live.
Chances are, I would lie. No one can truly change what you believe in, they can alter your state of mind through torture or force an action through coercion, but your belief is your own.

It depends on what you mean by believe in. That could mean anything. If it was something dumb...like I believe that cats are better than dogs...then no I would not die for it. And I'm not religious so I wouldn't die for renouncing something that is just words to keep your life.

Jesus told Peter that he would deny Him 3 times. Peter never believed that he would, but he did. I'd like to believe I'd be strong and take the bullet knowing that I could never renounce what I believe in. How would you know that God wouldn't intercede, also, because that's happened before also. Hope it never comes down to that.

If a person believes in something, I mean TRULY believes in something then they would be willing to take that belief to the death if necessary. I, as well, as everyone alive believes in something, and something worth believing is something worth dieing for. Jesus did it, the believers in the first century Rome did it when all they had to do is to do an act of worship toward Caesar and they would be set free. They would not, so they were thrown in to the lions pits to be torn to bits; men, women, and children. I have similar beliefs and although I don't know for sure what I would do if the situation came up for me, the chances are that I would die for my beliefs if necessary and by any means that they would use on me.

That's a good question. I'll bet you $50 that every christian will say that would take the bullet but let me tell you something. I've had a gun put in my face and robbed. Hypothetically is one thing. But to actually have it happen is completely different. Most people have no idea how terrible it really is.

Being the tactlessly honest person I am, I'd say hell no asshole, why teh hell you think you can point a hunk of metal at me and make me change my mind! It's a fvcking belief, what does it matter to you?? By that time, though, I'd probably be dead. But in my belif it's all the same, so in the Ultimate Reality there's no real loss.

I'd rather renounce the belief. Whatever belief they're talking about, I'll renounce it.
