Is there any connection between being left handed and getting depression later in life? Aside from the general hassles and inconveneinces, is there really research on the connection to depression?

I am having trouble coming up with an original idea for my term paper. The topic needs to be on the "borderline" of scientific psychology. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I am having a very bad internal conflict. I believe that my brother's wife is very abusive with my nephew. I've seen things I don't like and have a sense it is worse when no one is actually there(which is all the time cause my brother works alot). He is very mean and unusually unhappy for a 3 year old. First instict is: punch her out...but can't do that. I need to take care of this situation before I regret that I didn't...please I am looking for realistic answers...I don't want to lose my brother...but I'm to the point where I almost don't care if I do. I really think he doesn't know the extreme nature that it may be. How should I take care of this.....without going the authority way first.

I'm a doctoral student with a serious procrastination problem. I already know why I do it (perfectionism, easily distracted, obsessive tendencies).,, I love to read, explore, and research all the random things you can find on the internet.. i'm addicted to checking email and playing around on friendster and youtube. but then time passes by with the paper undone. My question for you all is... what are some time management "tricks"? For example, I have found it helpful to set my clock 20 minutes fast, plug in the deadlines one week earlier in my planner, join study groups b/c they force me to start earlier... any others would be really helpful!

I dreamed that I was looking out my bedroom window and I saw a young angelic looking child beaconing me to come. I went downstairs and out the back and found myself sitting in a group of people - all of whom I knew, but are now dead. I kept asking myself over and over again, is this real, or is it a dream. I thought I must be dreaming, but then I kept thinking hang on, this is NOT a dream - this IS real. I wasn't scared but I was a bit confused and concerned that I should get back to my body. My husbands grandmother was there - she died a few weeks ago but I wasn't particularly close to her and didn't go to her funeral. She looked much younger that she was when she died and she looked peaceful. I told her, in fact, I told them all that they were dead. As the "experience" went on, I started to go back into normal dreaming although I knew I wasn't yet awake. I knew there was a difference between the dream bit and the "real" bit. Anybody had this before?

You wake up at your usual time, do the same thing[s] every day with the exception of 3 or 4 different happenings that didn't happen the other day. If you did something wrong & got arrested, you wouldn't have to worry 'cause when you go to sleep, you'll wake up at home to relive yesterday over again and you can avoid being arrested. Would it be fun?

I moved away from my abusive foster & biological family out of state, thinking I can have a happy life & move forward, but I can't move forward & let go of the past because I'm reliving the same scenarios being treated the same way but by strangers or people I'm just getting to know, & that's bringing me flashbacks of the harsh abuse I went through.

Sometimes, when I look down while I'm standing high above ground, I imagine what it would be like to fall from there. I don't do this intentionally, but I just do. It's just pops in my head. Am I weird? or do you people do that as well? (I actually told this to few of my friends and they also admitted that they do that sometimes...)

just a question about my preferences in movies/books/poems/ ect. i have a tendancy to adore such things that tell somewhat depressing stories, .... , i loved of mice and men, and most of Edger Allen Poes works, as well as Robert Frost and so forth.. they are all fabulous writers so my intrest in their works seems perfectly normal to me. however i do get caught up in them and often times can't stop thinking about the issues of murder/death/ and so forth braught up.......i have been told multitudes of time that i'm creepy or odd because these are the only stories i really take any intrest in, and the feel good books and so forth are just unrealistic in my mind..... oppinions?

Most people either perceive things in a positive manner, or negative manner.

The glass is half full.
The glass is half empty.

but what about when someone looks at the glass and simply sees a glass with some water in it?

The glass contains water.

Is this kind of neutrality an unhealthy way to perceive everything in general?

look up at the stars and moon in the nice peaceful darkness. Except my new neighbour has her bathroom window opposite where i park my bike- its the only place i can park it- and she likes to shower with the blinds open and the lights on. its kills my early morning joy. i mean you cant see anything just her head and shoulders but yucko. And i mean i think its not like she is enjoying the view of our house or anything and everybody knows that you cant see out in the dark when you have your light on anyway. she knows i park my bike there and she hears me starting it up in the morning. i have even seen her peering out the window at me. why does she not close her blinds? yuck.
