As far as guys go(since I am one), bigger IS better. It's some sort of macho thing, as far as I can tell. You are looked down upon if you're small, generally. (I'm not sure why most people care though, unless you'd like some of his, and even then just find another partner I guess)
I don't know about women though, or gay men. I guess they all feel differently, some might like a giant fat one going in, and might enjoy whatever pain that follows. Others might like things more suited for their bodies.
