I am not depressed, but I am starting to get the blues. I can feel it. There have been some hard times for me lately. I have been trying to see the bright side of things, but lately I feel the blues creeping up on me. Any advice on how to turn it around?

I completely understand where you are coming from. I don't know what has been going on in your life lately, but the only thing you can do to make you happier is to care about yourself and your well-being. This means doing things that you love...whether its sports, shopping, talking with friends (old and new!), or trying something new. The worst thing you can do is dwell on your sadness (or blues). The more you think about it, the more you're going to feel bad. Be positive and think about how much you are grateful for what does make you happy...and then go do it!

I understand fully sometimes you just feel like not doing anything. those always seem to be days when people suddenly feel the need to ask you questions and say things like oh are you feeling alright or you look depressed and you just want to say no I'm just having a bad day. usually what I do is ignore them and go do something that will make me happy like get ice cream or drive around. even just taking a walk works

exercising has many anti depressive qualities. finding a trail in a state park or other natural area to take a walk on or to take a jog and just enjoying nature is one of the best ways to relieve stress and depression, and although you say you are not depressed this could help you get rid of the blues

Exercise, eat right, spend time with friends and family, and if things continue to look blue, then talk with your family doctor. Sometimes, people need an anti-depressant, no big deal, especially if it helps you over the hump.

Go to a Nursing Home, a hospital or a Mental Institution and those blues will vanish into thin air.

I believe everyone should have a designated day for the "fuckits" . Thats a day you take off from life a pretend that you have turned your back on the world and pretty much say "fuckit!"
Mind you, I only suggest having this day once a month

Take some time for yourself. Get lots of fresh air and sunshine. Maybe grab your favorite lunch and eat at the park. One thing that is guarenteed to make you smile ..... look at yourself in the mirror and make the funniest face you can, you wont be able to help but laugh at yourself. Then smile :) Bottom line .... tkae some time for yourself and goof off!!!

Sometimes it helps to know that you're not alone.
Look at me, I'm virtually homeless, literally carless, and pretty darn uncertain of the future, but I'm still on the net by the grace of my sister; giving advice (hopefully).
That's my two cents for ya.
