I'm not your typical girl; I don't shop at brand name stores or obsess over how I look. I'm a hippie and a little punk. I get along with most people and am pretty open-minded. I like guys who are funny but also able to have deep intelligent conversations. I've known this kid since I was 8 or so, we used to argue all the time when we were younger. We're cool now. But he's the popular football star...whatever. I don't care about his popularity or football playing ability, I like who he is. He can have almost anyone, though he doesn't. We talk some but I don't know how he feels about me or anyone for that matter. I'm not exactly shy and I don't have a problem with asking the guy out. Sometimes I want to ask him out but I'm unsure. I've never told any of my friends how I feel about him so I don't know about telling him..now what?

I'm not really interested in the experience behind it, but rather, answer this question: Why do some people enjoy it and some are disgusted by it? What are the characteristics that tilt us to one side or the other?

Hi there,

I've completed 2 years of a 4 year interior design BA at university in Canada and decided it wasn't for me and switched to undeclared. I'm leaning towards a BA in psych with a minor in criminal justice or vice versa.

I'm wondering if anyone has any interesting career options with either of these choices. Any suggestions at all would be helpful. I realize that more education after a BA would be helpful but i'm wondering what i could pursue with a BA. (I may attend college afterwards for a 1-2yr program to specialize if it will advance me).

Thank you for any career tips! :)

I'm a professor in a small town. I was out to dinner at a restaurant/bar, and I saw one of my incredibly bright students absolutely drunk. She's a juinor in college and she's only 18. Her writings in class have showed that she had a rough home life and has been through more in her short lived lifetime than most people experience in a lifetime.

She came up to me, drunk, and told me how she met this guy and was leaving with him. I was worried, so I asked to speak with her in the bathroom because the music was so loud. We walked in and she threw up everywhere. she was laying on the floor crying and i was rubbing her back, trying to comfort her. She was leading into me and crying hysterically.

I feel like I should talk to this student. But how? What should I say?

I can swear on anyone including my mom that this has happened to me. This happened to me when I was in Sydney, Australia in 1995. I was working in a shop at the counter. A graceful looking Indian man with long hair and beard came directly to my counter and said, by looking at my forehead he can tell that I will become a big yogi. I was bit fascinated by that since I already was interested in becoming one. To convince me he did this. Looking at me he wrote something on a paper. He folded it and gave it to me and asked me to open this later. He then asked me to think of my favorite color, lucky number and a flower that I like. I thought of picking the wrong ones but finally decided to go for the correct ones. Once I opened it, I was surprised to see the exact matching answers. I have never revealed my personal details to anyone at any time. Atleast not when I was in Sydney. Is it possible the Guy was reading my mind? I still have no clue. Can you please explain this? No mocking.

If so, do you write in it each night or just once a week or only occaisionally. ?
I find I tend to write in mine only when I am depressed or had a bad day. It gets it out of my system. I would like to write in it all the time but I often find that when Im happy I cant think of what to write or I just dont have the time as I am busy enjoying myself.
Is diary writing just a therapuetic exercise ?
Or is it a historical document for future generations like Anne Franks diary ?

Hey everyone

I'm doing a case study for uni. Can anyone tell if there are any childhood disorders that would make kids more trudting or naive...? More likely to go off with strangers... This is in reference to children of about 10yrs...

Could there be something on the autism spectrum perhaps?

Thanks guys

What's in a name? I've been diagnosed with PDD-NOS. Strictly speaking I have been told that this is not autism.

But I cannot agree with this- sure there is a disorder called autistic disorder: But isn't the term autism used as a catch term for anyone with a disorder within the "autism" spectrum?

I can't believe the Autism Sociey for America, Center for the study of Autism, etc are only looking at the autistic disorder.

Can't someone with Aspergers Syndrome say they have autism? I agree they are not diagnosed with the autistic disorder -but it is within the "Autism" spectrum.

Is autism not used as a general term for the autism spectrum?
Can I please have autism? (Thank you!)

Hi, i recently posted about my situation but here I go again. I previously had depression and took Paxil-& loved it.But my dad passed away a yr ago, & I have had major anxiety. went to a psych., she put me on depakote.I didnt really like her- so I went to another one and she put me on seroquel. Anyhow, both of these medications make me SO out of it-my head is blurry, & I feel foggy.I told my doc, she said to wait until next week- she put me on lorezapam until them for anxiety-but she wanted me to flush my body of all the other drugs. My Q is-do all the mood stabilizers make your brain foggy and such? (BTW, i feel SO much better & it's only been two days since i didnt take seroquel and depakote). She thinks the SSRIs are causing the anxiety (she said in some ppl that happens)..but I imagine by the time I get into see her next wk on wed--i will be totally depressed (because I do have depression). pls only answer if u have advice, no "ask your doctor"--thats obvious-i want personal exp.
