Gender Studies - September 2006

When Steve Irwin die some feminist (who's name escapes me) completely bad-mouthed the man, and showed no respect for his efforts to promote animal awareness and care. Yet, feminists, (including on this forum) defended her! The admire her for "speaking her mind". Yet, they ridicule Ann Coulter for her harsh words, (which I don't agree with) to the wives of 9/11. Yes, 9/11 is in a different league than Irwin's death, but the feminist's comments were just as innapropriate, nonetheless.

I think the true reason feminists hate Ann Coulter is because she's a 'conservative' women with greater influence than the whole NOW organization combined. The woman has 5 best-sellers. While the hasbeen feministic authors wither away, Ann Coulter only grows in fame. I believe they are just intimidated, and jealous. Do you agree?

I consider myself confident in my abilities. I don't consider my abilities exeptional. I am often asked questions (in the job) and I give them an honest answer based on my abilities, ( this does not include the fact that I would get better with time).
I have been told that I have a lack of confidence. It seems to me they actually mean a lack of positivity. My answer did not meet their expectations and their expectation is higher than mine.

So I ask is confidence often confused witrh positivity? And is a negative answer or realistic answer mistaken for a lack of confidence.

I hate them so much. I especially hate the ones that DEMAND equal rights, yet when **** like the female teachers that get caught havign sex with their students only get a slap on the wirst, while male teachers in the same position woudl get 10-15 years in prison.

Some think that a women's place is in the kitchen making sure that dinner is on the table at 7 sharp. Others (myself included) believe that this is a completly idiot thing....that a women belong on capital hill in the oval office (not being there to dust either for those of you who would say that). There are so many young men and boys without a father or with a corrupt father. By nature, boys often follow in the footsteps of their fathers, or the male figure they admire most. If boys could see more men in public practicing chivalry toward women, wouldn't it better provide for these boys an example they are not recieving at home? In affect, wouldn't it benefit women by raising a society in which men care for women, rather than abuse them?

I am searching for possible grad schools in Women's or Gender Studies. I want to do study abroad or an international internship during that time but alot of the schools I've researched only offer it for undergrads. I've tried studyabroad.com and gradschools.com but still nothing. I'm even willing to apply directly to an international school but none I've found so far have the international perspective I'm looking for. Eventually I want to work for the UN or international human rights org related to marginalized people. Any help would be great!

Hey. I'm taking a Mental Health course and we have to do these little bib card thingys on what we are talking about in class -- my question is: which anxiety defense mechanism would you attribute the majority of gossip, too (hurtful, mean gossip). My place is really small, ikea futon, noice leather chair however, and some other IKEA furniture. It's clean at least. Is this good enough? I can probably buy better furn, if I can figure out what to do with my old stuff (actually it's only 3 yrs. old since I just move in that long ago).

My sister has a sordid relationship with men. She has made bad choices in the past, one almost leading to violence.

In the past I let her make her own mistakes, but now I am concerned.

Recently she started dating another bad seed that she insists she doesn't want to see anymore.

Yet, he remains in her life and I am afraid she is lying to me about wanting to break up with him.

Give me advice on what I can do to help prevent her from making the same mistakes she has made before.

Is it even my place to interfere?
