Iwas visiting a friend and fell asleep in his bed, he went to the store while I was asleep. I woke up but could not move I could only watch a pair of shoes and red plaid polyester pants that had just enterded the room. I wanted to look up but couldn't. When my friend returned I told him what happeded he was very upset. and said an elderly man died in the house. He says he saw him before too. And that is why he kept a bible open on the dresser.

He lived in Philadelphia, PA, USA, probably in the 19th century. I've been unable to find any information on him via the regular search engines. It is not the German theologian and writer. Any ideas?

Shouldn't govenment and individuals have the maturity not to offend large groups like Muslims who in 1999 were a fifth of the world's population!!??? That's alot of potential people you are offending, and a large resource from which the crazy insighters of Islam fundamentalism can recruit young green volunteers willing to do what the brainwashing dictates.
Suggestion to combat present violence and spreading secularist anger and threats?
Don't identify the problems we are having now with Muslims, but with fundamentalists/preachers/bombers who are individuals, recruited and brainwashed by fanatics.

Put aside the fallacies of Cause-Effect Isomorphism and Function-Origin Isomorphism, and think for a moment about the origin of language. Langauge is a function, the surface manifestation of a capacity, subserved by the human brain.

What do you think caused this singularity to come into existence?

Nationalism and religion have caused far more wars and suffering than racism. Are they not all wrong perhaps, as causes of division?

For me there is nothing worse than the person who says "my country right or wrong". .Agree?

I live in China. I'm constantly heckled and cat-called by many locals here. This, although not very refined, is certainly not seen as an insult by Chinese people. The insult is just in my head, due to my having grown up in America where such behavoir isn't acceptable.
I love living here, and I want to stay. But I find myself pissed-off almost once an hour at the way many people treat me.
Many Chinese people have explained why some folks act this way toward me, and there are very understandable reasons. But no matter how much I come to understand, it still pisses me off and the result is that I'm a jerk to about half the people I meet on the street. Usually because I have just taken what they've said or done as an insult.
I guess my delima is how to put intro practice what know I should do. How can I overide my basic cultural reflexes and better adapt to my environment? What I was taught as a child is nonfunctional here. Maybe I should just grow up. Thanks.

Hey, i'm pro choice, but I think the choice has to be made earlier, like when the woman is contemplating sex. Woman's body, womans choice. Then there would be no more abortions... everyone is happy.
What would you choose?

And Arab influence ran from the middle east through Europe to Southern Spain. Bringing Culture, art, science and peace over 3 continents. Byzantium, Ottoman and others ruled for years helping Europe rebuild. With all this going on for 1400 years, what the hell is going on with Iaran. The country is still in the middle ages going backwards.
