Is it just me, or do the two seem to go hand in hand?

Have there been any studies that linked the two?

The intelligent people here will assume I'm not calling *all* males either.

Next week I'm suppose to be talking about my cognitive thinking I had when I was a child. I'm really freaking confused on this can someone give me an example of what it is.....What I understand so far is and let me know if I'm right it's the thought process of understanding problems and then figuring the solution to them. I'm not really good at understanding technical words and all that so if someone can give an example in a sentence, that be great.

I keep getting torn down when I do that. maliciously. merciless. I feel like I bring on abuse to myself by telling others what I want in life. They also see this by the way I "Act" but really I just Love life. Am I too conceited, arrogant? How do I become a better friend without killing my ambition.

I'm 15, when I was 11/12 I like seeing things die.
then one day I was holding a knife, It wasn't the
first time, but that time was different, I wanted to
stab someone, for about I year I had an urge to kill
someone when ever I saw someone really vulnerable.
I could name several people that I had an urge to kill.
I am now 15 and I no longer have that urge. I haven't had that
urge in 3 years, I'm happy now. and when I look back I'm scared
about the fact that that person was me. Is there anything wrong
with me? anything you suggest I should change or do?
I don't have those urges anymore. has anyone ever had those
urges????

discriminatory thoughts? If I am free to think about discriminating doesn't that still allow the possibility, regardless of what the law says, for me to discriminate? Won't there always be discrimination as long as we can think freely about whatever we want? Won't there always be someone who acts out regardless of what the law says?

Isn't it hard to prove discrimination thus making it easier for those who do discriminate to get away with it even easier? Wouldn't that fact essentially allow people to get away with discrimination?

My argument:

Prejudicial/discriminatory thoughts don't always lead to discrimination.
But discrimination always comes from prejudicial thoughts.

If all this is true, and it is acknowledged that discrimination will always exist, then what is the point of continuing the 'fight against discrimination' since it will never be reduced to nothing? If it is to go as low as possible, then how low is that?

I really think highly of myself. I tink that I'm better than peple because my goals and aspirations are far more superior than many people's. I really like to have a known personality. I tend to be a loner at times, though. I like to "perform" in front of people (not in the theather kind of way) I mean to say I want to be known. I rarely get close enough to people which is why I probally don't have a girlfriend.

This summer has been one of the hardest time in my life. Lonely. Disappointment. Confusion. Sadness. It's too much. And at times, it feels like no one really cares either. And I'm not talking about significant relationships...I'm talking about the hardest parts in life. Things I don't understand. How am I supposed to respond?

Act like everything is ok and be cheerful? I'm generally happy on the outside, but deep down in, my heart sometimes breaks. No one really knows what I go through and yet they ocassionally take advantage of me. How are you supposed to respond when life is just not in favor of you?

Sounds have the decibel scale. Light has lumens, watts, candle-power. Earthquakes have the Richter scale. Hurricanes have categories. Etc.

Is there anything for smell?

If there isn't a scale, how would you make one?

For example:

+10 = Sweet
+ 5 = Yum
- 5 = Gross
-10 = Rank

I am counselor and I can't figure this out about myself! That is pathetic. Really, every time I find a man to be attractive and stimulating, someone whom I would like to get to know better I later find out that they are attached, married or not ready for a relationship. I can't figure out what is wrong with me. I have done some deep soul searching and do realize that I have some fears of feeling suffocated or trapped in a relationship, but I also have the maturity and wisdom to deal with these feelings constructivley. I don't think I am much more ambivalent about a relationship than are most folks, maybe just more aware because of my background in psychology. I have heard that if you attract unavailable men it is because on some level you are not available. I have looked at this from every possible angle and have been brutally honest with myself. Can someone please shed some new light on this for me? Please, no jokes or rude, crude comments. I appreciate thoughtful replies.
