Why are some people unrealistic, obsessive, demanding and perfectionists?

Why can't they be? If they're satisified with their life at a certain point, what other purpose do they have to live for? Some people want to be rich some want to be popular some want to be clean, they should be. If being obsessibe, demanding, and being perfectionists gets them there, then they should continue doing it. People should set goals high so they have something meaningful to live for, people who set their goals low have nothing interesting to say about their lives. Their lives did not have an impact on the world, and the world can scarcely remember them.

Thats how I would consider myeself. I could say, why are some people worthless, careless, slobs who have no goals or plans in life, but that would be mean... Lol, everyone is different, you can't ask why someone is they way they are, sometimes they don't even know. I question why I am the way I am and why others are the way they are all the time, but I still don't have the asnwers.

For me when I feel like I have to be perfect I am afraid of falling into mediocrity and losing my positon in relation to how others are doing. I think idealistically and dream big understanding that it may never be reached just because I think that if I didn't I would end up achieving less from the act of letting myself being able to be satisfied with a goal.

Without knowing your mother and brother, I'll attempt to explain. Part of the reason is genetics. Part of the reason is their environment. Part of the reason is your family system (everybody has one). Your brother does his best to please his mother. Therefore, he picks up on her anal-retentive characteristics. Most OCD type personalities have perfectionist and rigid thought patterns.

The simple answer is: that is what makes them who they are. Try to put yourself in their place, see through their eyes and find out what that tells you.
