of a child who has now grown up.....

"If your a working mother, your kids will inevitably resent you at at some point; they'll want you there seeing to their needs every second of the day, not out having a career. If you stay home, on the other hand, theres a point at which your kids are going to say, "darn it, why doesn't mom go out and get a life? Why is she always on my case?" Ultimately, parents should do what they need to do, happy parents generally have happy kids, and no child wants a parent who goes around acting martyred."

This is an excerpt from the book, The Conversation Begins, Mothers and Daughters Talk About Living Feminism

If a man commits murder, he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, despite lame excuses. Murderers like Mary Winkler and serial killers like Andrea Yates just have to claim some looniness and get off with light sentences. Then they go on Oprah Winfrey and go boo-hooing about being victims. Justice apparently isn't blind, it is massively sexist against men.

I've never had a "wow" moment with God. You know, like where you can feel his presence. I want to have a relationship with God but even though I know He's real sometimes I have my doubts.

Cultural relativism is the principle that an individual human's beliefs and activities should be interpreted in terms of his or her own culture.

Now, do you believe that most Americans ignore this? I feel as if many people in this country see the US as the ideal concept of civilization, and other cultures (not of the West) as primitive, and not as "morally inclined". I know there is a whole other debate on that issue in terms of conquests and missionary expeditions, but i would like to stick to the people of this century.

Granted, certain incidents such as 9/11 have convinced many people who are not educated on the facts into believing that ALL Muslims are bad. (which is just not true)

Maybe i'm too much of an idealist, but I believe we should look at each culture as its own entity, and not judge other cultures so harshly that are not exactly like ours.

I have seen so many hateful q and a's recently on here about this issue, and i would like to get your thoughts.

I'm writing a paper comparing the various schools of economic thought that were prevelant in the 20th century. My goal is to discuss the most influential and important schools as well as cover a wide spectrum of thought. I need to compare at least four schools, but at most five, so which schools do you think should be included?

Thanks very much.

You know, a good male friend of mine used to say, “a woman’s dream is to have that one guy to whom she means the world. A guy’s dream is to have all of the world’s women.”

What are your thoughts on his theory?

Or would they only give her life in prison like they did to Andrea Yates?
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/yates/
I know they are different states but I am asking if you think that in Tennessee would a woman get the death penalty for killing her four children. Since this guy generally had the same argument as post partum murdering mothers. He suffered from depression and PTSD too so why is it that women like Yates are held to a different standard? When is the last time you heard of any state executing a woman for killing her children?

Dont you think its a beautiful thing when you finally learn that its ok to not actually care what people think of you. I think this comes with age and im glad i have finally found it liberating that when one of my collegues makes me feel like an idiot - i sit back, smile and forgive them - At least i will never be that ugly or have to go home to their vile kids. Do you have similar thoughts at work?

Nowadays, if you can multi-task, it means you're more productive. Your employer will like you, and they can dump more work on you blah blah blah. You multi-task at work and get the jobs done, great. Your boss is happy and so is your pocket. However, I think multi-tasking is a bad habit to some extent because the more you multi-task, the more it becomes a habit, and you eventually will lose the ability to concentrate and focus. You will end up multi-tasking in your personal life and end up can't get anything done then we complain to people why we can't do/get this and that. A habit can be good and very evil. To get what we desire, concentration is vital. What do you think in your opinion?

I was talking to a friend of mine who was talking about stereotypes. And the way he put it made it seem like if he acted a certain way people would think less of him. So he actually strives to not do certain things (even if they just happen to be coincidences). Isn't that control in some sense?
