unfortunately due to the way our minds are wired, negative or traumatic experiences and emotions always star brighter in our consciouness, consequently we tend to focus on them more also...my way of dealing with this, is when a negative or unhelpful thought or memory enters into my awareness/consciouness, I let it pass by without focus. this way it doesnt fill your awareness and you are not adversely effected by its nature

you don't tell us why you do this - what you are thinking during the process.
so without that information, an answer is more of a guess than analysis.
but I would have to say that the behavior seems to be that of someone who wants what she cannot have. And that once she gets something, she then increases interest in the next thing she does not have.
If that is the case, then yes, it is a bit weird.

We are all weird in some way. You may be more jealous of those you not like and curious as to what they up too. Kinda like Homeland Security watching honest Americans instead of those they should be concerned with. You probably would do better looking at those that are your friends to know more of their likes and dislikes and to have a more meaningful conversation with them. But, there is nothing weird of wanting to know what the enemy is up too. :-P

Oh my yes, very, very wierd...You need help.
Just kidding, it is completely normal to be curious about things from your past and about what might have been. Just make time for your current friends as well. Also, get out and see and talk to your friends! Getting on the computer can, if you let it, take over your life, time-wise.

No it's human nature. Now I'm weird because I waist my time on the computer trying to find people stranger than me.

Maybe you are having trouble letting go of the past? Or you won't to know if the people of your past are doing? Or maybe you still care for these people?
