Dont you think its a beautiful thing when you finally learn that its ok to not actually care what people think of you. I think this comes with age and im glad i have finally found it liberating that when one of my collegues makes me feel like an idiot - i sit back, smile and forgive them - At least i will never be that ugly or have to go home to their vile kids. Do you have similar thoughts at work?

Having one of those thoughts right now. Life is a beautiful thing when you learn to ignore ugly.

It seems all you need to do now is lose the hate and you really will not give a xxxx.
Be honest .What was your gut response to my comment, before you managed to quell it? some tiny amount of indignation ? a momentary objection to my presumption.
See not showing it, repressing or denying it or accepting it with apathy, and genuinely not feeling the visceral flair of emotion are two very different things.
The latter can not be mastered without love and karma.

I agree it comes with age..
But I seem to have always been that way.. moreso now as I get older...
I have always been the kind to do as I want as long as it didn't hurt anyone..
By that I mean.. Go where I want
Dress how I want (I have never followed fashion)
Be with whom I want etc....
And I really never gave a hoot to what people thought..
Guess though that's the rebel in me..lol

it so comes with age, i have just turned 31 and i think i have finally seen that its ok to be me. and not to keep knocking myself because i dont look like so and so and i dont have a fancy house or loads of money. the best feeling in the world is to feel happy with yourself. i oftern think the people who are mean to me may be prettier or have more money but i am not nasty by nature.

I agree, some things are just not worth worrying about, I'm quite happy with my life, Its been my experience that people who constantly try to make others feel like idiots are usually just trying to direct attention away from themselves. Just be yourself.

Couldn't agree more, as long as its not in an arrogant and self absorbed way then its the best way to be.
Certainly gives me a level of calmness about most things.

My, aren’t we judgmental about co-workers? And you contradict yourself when you first say you don’t care what people think, then you say that your co-worker made you *feel* like an idiot (feel being the operative word). If you don’t care, then how can you feel like an idiot?
Get off your high horse and stop judging people so harshly. Maybe they won’t make you *look* like an idiot so much.

Like the lyric of the song, 'The Garden Party' goes ~
"But it's all right now, I learned my lesson well.
You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself."
(music n lyrics by 'Ricky Nelson')
It's a great and simple song which you can play to yourself inside your own head ~ with a smile too.
Sash.
