Is there any particular psychological reason that people have childhood dreams that they stop having as they get older? When I was still a child (between the age of 3-10, I think), I had several childhood nightmares that I had quite often. However, these ceased to exist as I grew older, and by the age of 11-12 I didn't even have them anymore. But why?

I would give you a description of my childhood nightmares if it would help you answer my question, but I really don't want this to get too long-winded XD

I dreamed that my dad was fishing and i was by the water, he was far behind me. He cast out into the waater, when he felt a fish he went to jerk it back and the hook went through and stuck in my thumb. It took FOREVER and a pair of wire cutters to get it out.
What does this mean

to me and my husband lately.
she recently graduated from a university. psychology major? she said she needs to (quit us) get us out of her life. she has lived away from home for four years but we have paid all of her expenses and have given her money for school.
Now she has a nice job but she is miserable. She has told us that she frequents ghetto's and hopes that someone robs her or rapes her or even kills her.
Her emails to us are vicious and mean. Rot in he** and f**k you. we are hurt and don't understand why she treats us this way. She thinks she is suffering from low self esteem? i don't know about that but she is going out of her way to make her sister miserable and her younger brother. she has been a problematic child. She brings up unhappy memories of her childhood and blames us for everything that has ever went wrong in our lives. We lost a child aged 6 to a brain stem tumor when she was a baby. I don't know. We are hurting right now do we just tell her goodbye?.....

I woke from what I thought was a dream with someone lightly stroking my face. I later found out that he died round about the same time that I woke up. Do you think it was him?

Is this even normal behavior?
I am facing a severe problem of a former co-worker, boss who is stalking me everywhere I go, infiltrating every work place or residence I move to, snooping into my private life, friends, email, phone, etc and poisoning folks around me? I have even moved to a different city but it never stops. I am not paranoid or delusional, this is real and it is a very serious and debilitating problem since I am single, ordinary person, 49 year old female and this is powerful, wealthy infuential man. I regret the day I came into contact with this individual.
Anyone had a similar situation and found help or a solution?

I work as a Healthcare assistant at my local hospital. I have known an old lady for quite some time. she has been in hospital for about 6 months. We were quite close and last Tuesday she told me that she wouldn't be here for much longer. She thanked me for everything I had done and told me she would keep in touch.I thought she meant she was going home. Well yesterday I went to work and one of the doctors told me she had died. I was freaked out that she knew she was dying and also upset that she had gone. She left me a note saying she would contact me if she could through a medium and look after me. She was a big believer in this as I am. I am booked to see Colin Fry soon and am scared now. I feel spooked by the whole thing and couldn't sleep last night. Please help.

Seventeen recently said that many people have gone emo and that we all think it's no big deal to go to a therapist or whatever. They say like preps are dressing darker and all that. I'm just wondering. I went to a therapist and am clinically depressed (I have disthymia(?sp) it's a mild case of depression) but I never thought it was cool to go. In fact, I hated going and stopped. I even acted all happy and dressed in bright colors instead of black but now it's all so popular. I think it's just stupid people want to be sad and dark and everything. I hate being sad and depressed and I write everyday that I want to be happy. Do you agree that a lot of people have gone emo and everything and is it right? All they're doing is acting. They're posers. Who agrees and am I right to be saying all this stuff?

I 'm referring to the time in your life. How far back would you go? One second? One Day, One Month, One Year, One Decade, Back to the womb? How far back would you go, before moving forward in real time again? Why?

I don't know that much about economics, but I keep hearing that the dollar keeps decreasing in value and about outsourcing of jobs. Other people have also brought up issues about gas prices and environmental effects. The future of social security and medicare are other issues. It seems to me like not too many people are optimistic about our economy. What do you think?

Where are the philosophers on here? The thinkers? Come on guys, no more BS answers, or spam. Serious thought. People in general, make about 1000000 decisions a day, everything from what to eat, drink, where to work, what to wear, everything, so therefore they make the same snap assumption/judgements when they see others as well.

So why is it that people instead of being friendly towards one another, are VERY distrustful, competitive, envious of those that have more, conniving, and hard to categorize because they're so strange?

I mean, yes okay, before anyone critizises me for making broad generalizations, I know that there are good people, and normal people, but there are also the types I just described.

Is it human nature to be self-conscious, self-aware, and put self first above everyone else?

It seems like humans have HUGE ego problems, and everything revolves around the self, status, money, pride, looks, sex.

Why are "nerds" so unpopular? Human Nature. they want
