I think you may be on to something. We can answer questions hiding behind these little avatars and be completely obnoxious or whatever. The anonymity can promote a lack of responsibility for one's actions, which I would definitely see as a form of cowardice. Besides, is anyone really afraid of the "report abuse" thing. There's a ton of other sites they can go to and be the same obnoxious moron.

The media releases rated-r things on the internet, and the internet is a place where kids can see the bad stuff. Yes, the internet can cause cowardice, because of some of the stuff seen on the internet.

I think being overly cautious on the Internet is a good thing. especially with all the scams, and pervs out there.
I do not think it necessarily correlates to real life, as in real life you often are face to face with the person.
In fact the chat rooms can boost your mental reflexes, because there all they can see is what you type, and you have to be quit witted.
