Background:

Some people ------ which includes a minority but very loud group of 'true' heterosexuals and some 'gay' identified males, and some women ------ make the claim that most men are heterosexuals and react aggressively when shown evidence to the contrary.

The minority of males who are 'true' exclusive heterosexuals claim that since they haven't gone through any pressure to be exclusively heterosexual, no one does. And so they claim that being exclusive heterosexual is the majority....... and thus 'straight'.

They claim, people are what they say they are.

How reasonable is this claim, when:

1. The society exerts such extreme pressures on men to be exclusively heterosexual,

2. The consequences of not being (exclusively) heterosexual is so negative and extreme for men,

3. The real men, the majority of straights are disempowered to claim their same-sex needs.

And I don't mean severe terms of suffering, like war or genocide, but stuff like locking someone out of their home on purpose and getting a kick out of seeing them bang on the door in fear or laughing at someone puking in a toilet or getting a kick out of slapping someone with a towel over and over again or laughing at someone who fell on iceskates (and they got hurt).

am a young female grad; When I came to college I had to have roommate. My 1st was very nice, but she graduated,. My 2nd was a *****, I discovered she was a psycho and since I was new in the country I was afraid; she intimidated me, and she started doing weird stuff like having the radio high at 3 am, and shewas a racist and against other races/religions, especially Muslim. I suffered, and I had a post-traumatic diorder that was not severe; but I was experiencing things I never had in my life (peaceful) ...I imagined her coming to me at night , and saw her scary eyes in the dark, etc. I said this to my doctor. Then I was told police were suspecting her for having a gun, which I think is true, given her fundamentalit and crazy tendecies. It really aches me to go back to that dark episode of my life. I was alone. Then I moved with another American, which is generally nice but she has a possessive view of the house and asks me why I did that or this as if the house is hers! I am fed up

I'm working on a group project for a colleger interpersonal communications course. We need to address a particular statement, by choosing a side and arguing our premise. My question to address is: The ultimate goal of every human being is to establish and maintan an intimate relationship with another person.

I will be debating against this viewpoint, under the premise that one can have a blessed, passionate, and fullfilling life w/o "having" to have a deep and personal emotional bond with another. I've done the research and can back up my views/arguments against pyschologist's theories, but I would also like to incoporate examples of successful loners into an activity.

Can anyone think of someone (w/in the last, say, 100 years max!) that was/is innovative, involved, or living life to the fullest but is not "certifiable" or has not simply just had a string of truly disasterous relationships??

Overall I talk very well to people and with my friends etc, but when it comes to standing up infront of a class ( even as small as five or six people I get so nervous and shake. Especially when I am holding some of my work up to them. I find it so embarressing. I know a huge part of it is nerves, but I don't seem to know how to control them. I'm in my mid 20's now and have always been like this. It never seems to improve the more I do them/ Does anyone have any advice in this situation?

I frequently offer advice on this "expert" advice website, and my father is a former high school counselor. We've both noticed a tendency among teenagers who ask for relationship advice: Being that they are inexperienced, teenagers often make mistakes, which is perfectly fine and natural. However, their questions in regards to the mistakes are often about how to "make" the other person change their feelings. We often hear questions like:
"How do I get him/her to like/forgive me?"
"How do I fix it so s/he knows I won't do it again?"
"How do I get him/her to come back to me"
"How do I get him/her to give me a second chance?"
We often become frustrated because no matter how we try to convey that you can't "make" a person feel one way or another, they rarely seem to agree or understand.
So my question is, why is this? And also, is there anyway to make this concept more comprehensible to teenagers?

Class warfare is possible only if people are intelligent and willful. Shouldn't we destroy all modern inventions and get back to hair pulling, rock throwing and agree to never allow inventions again?

I know it's sounds like nonsense, but these two things have very little in common, that's why I'd wanna know for which one of them would you go for?
