i think only loosers are like obsessed about popularity. like you can't like want something that you like already have. duhhhhh.
like when i was in high school my parents bought a lot of designer stuff in europe. (they were on sale, cheap i think) anyway, clueless me thought it was just clothes. i wore them to school and got noticed. i hated the attention. so tore out all the emblems and the tags out. it caused a bigger fuzz.
like i coasted with that rep for the rest of school. since they can never know whether my clothes were cool or uncool. anyway, they were last seasons clothes.
those clothes ar long gone and schools longer gone. it is just shallow. and people who obsess about this during high school till university and work are shallower

No offence, but I assume you're one of those people *popular* kids like to call "losers". I'm past that period in my life now, working and all. I was one of those kids too, those that got cut out, I never cared to be completely honest.
But, like you, I have noticed that people were - and still are - quite obsessed with popularity. Even worse; they put demands on other people.
I have to say, outside of school I'm very popular in the *real* world because I'm just being myself and don't try to be someone else. Also, perhaps because for some unexplained reason, I'm *always* ahead of fashion trends, and maybe - just maybe - because I'm great to talk to...
See, the demands they make in school are different from the demands they make in real life. Some kids will learn the difference when they finish school, and some never will - and those are the pathetic ones... I've seen a few of those in my last class. Pretty funny sight, really :p

Eck...I feel the same way. I've put up with the popular kids my whole life. I had little friends in gradeschool because I wasn't popular enough. Not only that, I was the "loser" who got picked on. It really does a number on your self esteem after more than a decade. I wish we Americans were better than that, but unfortunately we're not.

I am definitely not obsessed with popularity. Sounds to me like you are dealing with the cliques in High School. Not much you can do other than - Don't let it get to you.

Those would be the "pretty boy" types. Ugh. Nothing like a guy that puts a lot of thought into himself. How utterly manly.

Yeah, cause after high school is over, there is no such thing as popluarity anymore. It won't matter how cool you were in high school when you get out in the real world.

Have not dealt with that since high school. Sounds like juvenile behavior.

This is just the way that some are. This is what makes themselves feel good. You know you have to feel important somehow and this is thier way.
