I'm not white and i'm not outgoing. When i attempted to be friendly with some japanese people in several occasions since 2000, all i got was faces of disappointment and disgust towards me . And it keeps happening even though i try to be friendly. Then, i turn and see Japanese talking with white people or other outgoing americans and they are so happy and enjoying their company.

I'm hispanic and quiet but i do make an attempt to have good frindly conversations when i meet them. yet always, i see that they rather be with a white person or a talkative "real american".
I've studied for 4 years now, but because of all these bad experiences I feel hated and can't even feel good anymore about studying this Language. At the same time, it's not like i wanna just give up and forget it. Even if Japanese hate me, i would keep studying, but it's really harrrd. It makes me sad just picking up a book knowing that i'm hated by the people of the country where that language is spoken.

I can remember when i was a young boy. There was just one african american kid in my class. My dad was with me at the time, and I asked him. Hey why is that guy so dirty? (referring to his skin tone as aposed to my own.) Is that because I didn't know any african americans before then, or are people naturally or genetically racist.

Have you seen the commercial that has the floating mirror on the street? People walk by, look in it and see their dreams coming true. What would hope to see if you had an opportunity to look into a Mirror of Dreams?

My answer - I would LOVE to see myself as a successful television personality, like Oprah.

manipulate others or take advantage of others actually feel remorse or regret. I fell victim to someone manipulating me and when I confronted him he told me "it was all uncalled for" nd he didn't mean it. Yet, he could not remain friends with me and turned cold towards me and said we should not speak anymore. Even though he was at fault, he still has a way of making me feel guilt, sad. IS this what a manipulator does? Do they really feel remorse?

I've seen a 100 websites that say the same thing. Visualize that you are so and so, see it in your "mind's eye".....!! I have used this technique of talking to myself and visualization, but always end up feeling anxious in the interview (contrary to what I visualized). Does this really work? Why doesn't it work with me?

I'm all for the Euro, this way, the U.S government can't increases the money supply without hardship due to European monetary policy. Milton Friedman once wrote, "Inflations is taxation without legislation." If we switch to the Euro, the money supply will stay constant and inflation will be stable. 10 years ago, I remember 5 dollars could buy my sister and me two adult meals; now you cannot even buy one meal for that same amount. Maybe a snack.

Again, if America switch to the Euro, who will have the power to control the money supply and who will enforce monetary policy?

Last night I had a dream..weird to say the least but the main charecters were everyone I know is dead...grandmother, father, grandfater, freind...ect.
But to make long story short everyone I know that is still alive was not in it......I woke up gasping for air after a figure with no face stabbed me in the heart......is this a close encounter with death or just a freaky dream.

I have a hard time letting people get close to me, and I tend to become critical - to the point of meaness - when people (significant others) get close to me, which of course drives them away - which I dont want! It seems like a viscious cycle - I dont want to be alone, but the minute I get close to someone BAM! I get compulsively emotionally abusive to them. It makes me hate myself!
Any advice from people who have been there as to how to stop?

My last boyfriend was not only supremely selfish but also a huge LIAR -- how do I ever trust another man again? I've tried to meet new men, but I'm left with the suspicion that the entire male gender are lying users. Is this true? I don't trust a single one of them. If it's just in my brain -- how do I change this new mindset?

I want to paint for fun. I want to draw for fun. But I feel like I have to become this great painter or artist that needs to sell these things and I don't intend on doing these things. I just want to do it for enjoyment but I can't because I expect this perfection out of me and I don't know how to let it go. It hurts so much.

I'm a professor at a college and I am very concerned about one of my students. She writes about her past and how troublesome it was, with friends committing suicide, her boyfriend beating her, and the like. She also writes about how she refuses to see a counselor so to not even try to get her one.

She came to my office hours for help on test preperation, and ended up crying so I held her hand and stroked it gently while encouraging her (I AM A WOMAN) and that made her feel better. Then I hugged her goodbye and she held on to me SO tight.... as if she'd never been hugged before.

The quarter is over in 2 weeks. Should I contact her then, and become a mentor of sorts?

I am coming over a depression caused by my ex when he left me 8 months ago. When we were together he was depressed and felt suicidal at times. He wanted me to be there for him and have me to talk to and I did because I cared. Through-out this he would not anwser his phone, tell me he would commit suicide by the end of teh school year, he was a teacher. Eventually he told me had a child w some one night stand before we met, and was ashamed and not ready for being a father. So I helped him, only for him to be emotioanlly stable to leave me and get to know the mother of the child. I understand in a way how things can happen, however..he turned so cold to me, him and this girl made me feel so bad about myself, she called me and told me things he said about me to her that weren't nice. You know, I never did anything to him but help him, we never fought. Its one thing to have feelings for someone else, but why did he have to devalue me. IIronlically I suffered from a deep depression because
