the simple answer is that we prefer it to other sounds because it has beat, rhythm, melody and so on.

but still, why do we like it?

i think it's in some way related to the brain recognising sounds that mimic the sounds we create internally.

the brain continually hears the sounds we make inside our bodies e.g. though the heartbeat, breathing, and all the other bodily systems.

i think that the brain likes music because it's a pleasant-sounding approximation of the all the 'music' we make ourselves all day every day.

also, if the brain in a small way perceives music as the sounds of 'life,' then perhaps the we like music because it's a reinforcement that we are not alone.

that could be why we enjoy music in social settings, too - it's a common bond of 'life' that brings people together.

what do u reckon?

And before you start, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, and some people say that beauty comes from the inside. but seriously there are some ugly people out there.

I seriously want to know if the human brain can sense that they are not the best looking so lowers its standards when looking for a mate??????

A few years ago my ex boyfriend passed away at a young age.
They say the good die young. BUT Ever since I got the news My life has changed. Im no longer the happy person I once was. I know I should just get over it but I feel I will NEVER get over it. We left on bad terms and it was my fault, a few months later he passed..I didnt get to say sorry and now I suffer the guilt for being the way I was. I wish there was a psychic or something that could tell me if he knows that im sorry...if his spirit is still out there. Then maybe I could rest a little easier.

If anyone has any advice to help cope with a loss and the guilt , please send it my way . thank you

If half the 2006 DOD budget of $442 billion (not counting $85 billion supplemental) were invested elsewhere (infrastructure, education, subsidies, direct foreign aid) would the rate of return be higher? Has anyone tried to quantify the value of geo-political capital that hegemony provides? Is it worth the investment?
Serious answers only please, take your vitriol elsewhere.

Some psychologists compare our consciousness with iceberg.
The small visible part of this iceberg is our logical consciousness.
And the unseen (underwater) greater part of the iceberg is
our subconsciousness. Therefore they say, the man uses
only 10% of possibility of his brain.
And if it so, why doesn,t anybody teach us how
to develop our subconsciousness.
I think it is because there are few people who understand
that the processes of subconsciousness are connected
with quantum processes. The subconsciousness theory
closely united with quantum theory.
These quantum processes which take place in lifeless
(inanimate) nature also take place in our brain.
Our brain can be the laboratory in which we can
test the truth of quantum theory.
=============
1. Nonlinear dynamic process.
2. Vacuum process.
3. Superconductive process.
4. Holographic process.
