I'm worried about my 4 year old son. I'm totally not racist at all, and would take great offence if anyone suggested otherwise, but the other day I was watching King Kong (the new one) with my son, and he asked to see a bit again, a bit he described as 'when the brown man fights king kong'. Now I've never taught my son about different races or anything, and I believe that the fact that the 'brown man' was the only black guy in the film made it the most obvious description for him of the bit in the film he liked. What worries me is if he says things like this in public, and people think I'm bringing up my son as a racist. This already happened once about six months ago, when he went up to the only indian boy in his older brothers school and said (perfectly innocently) 'you've got a brown face'.
How have others taught their children to handle race sensitevely?

She has a shy personality and is scared to do things because she is so unsure of herself and is eager to please. She can do anything, but doesn't have the confidence. I need to build her up or they're going to hold her back in school because of it.

I'm not one of the good looking people on the planet and I was pushing a cart (which I bought not stole) full of groceries at the time when I was approached by these rich 20 somethings who have lived in the neighborhood for maybe a year or less riding a tandem bicycle. They circled back around the block several times (probably calling the police on me) and then came up to me and asked me if I needed any help and I respectfully told them no and they kept pushing the issue. About 2 blocks later a sheriffs car drove past me and then a guy on a motorcycle stopped and asked me where I was going and then proceeded to tell me the cop would probably be back to talk to me. What's with these these snotty rich people anyway? Since when is carlessness equated with homelessness?

With all the pain I felt in life I have developed this sheild of defense yet I am open. They do things more and more to affect me. As each passing day goes on they are pushing me. Going past my barriers as to see how far they can go. Why do they want to see me like them? DO they want to see how evil a man can be? Why!? Why!? I do not want to return to that feeling. What will they obtain if I fall? What is the goal? I do not understand. Why don't I do this to people? Are they lacking something? It is almost sacrafical feeling when people do this to me. Why must they push me. I retain my innocence but is there something about innocence lost that drives people to do these things?

I know a guy who wears the same outfit everyday. He wears the same STYLE of t-shirt, underwear and socks, but his jeans and shoes are the EXACT same pair. He is not poor, dirty, smelly nor does his work require him to dress this way. He showers often and cares about his appearance/fashion as the products/clothing he owns are designer labels.

I once suggested he wear something other than his "uniform" to a party we were going and he was highly objective. When shopping, he gets VERY ANGRY & FRUSTRATED and finds something wrong with everything he tries on--despite him being the perfect size for clothes.

What is all this about? Please explain in detail, I have two Psych degrees and I really want to understand this.

Do you think natural talents are passed down from your parents by genetics or do you think they're taught? Or do you think it's just a mixture of both? And why?

This past weekend, my mother came to my house and I arranged and paid for a ride for my sister. My mother and I were pretty excited to see my sister who came in MOPING. She was in a mood from the moment she came in. We all repeatedly asked her what was wrong but she refused to tell us. So we respect her privacy. and stop asking. We immediately feed her some dinenr we saved for her and give her the tour of our new house.
After dinner, we got out to the porch to enjoy the night air and she mopes. She claims to remember nothing of our childhood , but seems to think all of the stories of the adventures I had with my mother were with HER.
The next morning, I wake up and my sister is out with my mother ripping her a new "one" about abandoning us. not true, when our parents divorced, we were taken away and contact with my mother was not permitted.

I become very nervous and sometimes afraid about making calls to businesses, even just to order a pizza. I hate phone conversations that aren't personal. I will try my best to avoid having to make or answer such calls. And when I do have to, I am uncomfortable.

These things are not outwardly obvious, but inwardly... my heart races. Is there a name for this?

(Paradoxically, I am a total chatterbox and social butterfly when it comes to talking to friends and meeting new people in INFORMAL settings...)

In a relationship a woman can use sex to get what she wants. If a woman needs to make some good money (to pay for college) she can become a stripper. It just seems like sex can be such a shortcut for women to get what they want.
Since men are no longer able to use their shortcut, violence, what is our new shortcut?
