I'm not one of the good looking people on the planet and I was pushing a cart (which I bought not stole) full of groceries at the time when I was approached by these rich 20 somethings who have lived in the neighborhood for maybe a year or less riding a tandem bicycle. They circled back around the block several times (probably calling the police on me) and then came up to me and asked me if I needed any help and I respectfully told them no and they kept pushing the issue. About 2 blocks later a sheriffs car drove past me and then a guy on a motorcycle stopped and asked me where I was going and then proceeded to tell me the cop would probably be back to talk to me. What's with these these snotty rich people anyway? Since when is carlessness equated with homelessness?

You can buy grocery carts from Amazon.com which is what I did. It's not the same as the ones the grocery store has. It's smaller, folds up, and holds much less. It's my property and I can take it anywhere I want.

I didn't mean careless I meant carless, without a car to drive to the grocery store in. I have to walk a substantial distance to the bus stop and then back again.

Thats cool that you walk that cart to the grocery store to get groceries. I got something like what you got in NY. Rich people suck mostly, not just the white ones. 1% of the country has gotten %18 percent richer over the last decade and I think they own 33% of the overall wealth. Do yourself a favor and get a job skill like nursing and learn to ignore the negative attributes of people.

What were you doing that was careless? I don't equate carelessness with homelessness as in cause and effect--I think it is poor government planning that causes US poverty.

As for homelessness causing carelessness--I couldn't disagree more. Many homeless people in my town (NYC) are the most resourceful, smartest people I've ever met.

Sorry, if I did not answer your question properly...I did not understand how your story tied into your question.

Pushing a grocery cart outside of the grocery store parking lot is considered akin to homelessness. It is also stealing from the store unless you return it.

In fairness, I'd much prefer to have a snotty rich white guy being rude to me than a poor black guy putting a bullet in my chest.
I wonder how many muggings these guys have carried out over the last year.

That's a local problem. Applying it to all people of one type is as bigoted as the individuals you're talking about.

It is not carelessness that bothers them, it is that you were out of your element. A bag lady in the slums is considered normal, but a bag lady in the suburbs is unusual, and people fear what they do not understand... like the unusual.
