Teeny Goths and Emo's are very populace nowadays, do you believe that they are false, and see it as a fashion statement rather than a lifestyle?

I point and laugh. Most put their heads down and scurry away. Some will say something, but when I remind them that they are the ones dressing for a public reaction and attention, and that's my reaction, to laugh at them because they look stupid. They tend to scurry off. One did pull a knife once, but he was an older guy, and again once he realised this wasn't the firs time I had been threatened with a weapon, he scurried off too. Personally I think they are all fake, trying to fight the system, my butt. All talk, no action, like all the rest of youth today. The ones under 18 are just looking for attention, probably don't get any at home. Show me any youth that has it all together and I'll show you a unic. To many hormones at that age. Most will grow out of it, the rest will live in mainstream societies shadow, contemplating their wasted life, dreaming of better things. I've listened to Heavy and Death Metal all my life, but I don't run around dressed like Maralin Manson, Gwar or Rob Zombie, because I already intimidate people just by being normal, if I dressed like that people would run and babies would cry.

Most tehse days any subculture are fake these days. However one could argue what is the criteria to be real? I see hardcore ones think everyone is fake because they did "X" first or was listening to some band before they were cool etc. Coolness takes many faces but not to argue your point because I do understand fakes etc. Perfect example Jessica Simpon's sister she first was dressing kinda grunge/goth*ish and than it changed. I guess in her case is numbers and dollars.

OK TO THE ANSWER!
For a person to be real to a subculture is this. One most be pushed from the main groups or have a natural embrace to subculture from early on. I am perfect example since and early age of antisocial behaviour and always reaching out to be different or find something more interesting. SO yes most are fake. I think real deal has a respectable amount of pain in their life to take interest in subcultures. That is a whole nother topic but you get my point.

I like them! Around my part of the world (Kent UK) they are nice gentle kids who respond very well to friendly interest. True, they have an interest in death, they are rather unhappy ppl who might kill themselves if they did not band together, this is the way some ppl are and is part of life's rich pattern. As to whether they are false or not, who cares? Do you want authenticity from them? It does not matter if some of them are just playing at the subculture style, let them get on with it. I was a part time hippy in my day (I had no choice, I was in the military at the time) But I find that is a problem most youth culture has, it wants to be street cred and elitist at the same time, split the difference.

Not at all. I used to be an emo-goth. It was just part of the culture i belonged to (being a rock drummer and all). Each to their own really. Some kids just do it to be cool, which is more the case nowadays. i got a bit of stick for it at school when the chavs (or townies as they were known then) spotted me walking home. I think it would be boring if we all looked similar anyway (unlike some of you monotonous clones on here). Variety is the spice of life.. bring it on!

i think some are just sick of the ususal everyday style and so opt. for something different... you dont have to have the full lifestyle to be one, you may enjoy it for a while then grow out of it... its seen as a rebellious stage... those who are still goths and emos whilst in their 30's obviously see it more than just a fashion statement

For most of them, yes, its a fad. Let's face it, very few teenagers know who they are -- the teen years are years of experimentation. We all went through it. So let's not hold it against them if they're searching for their true selves. However, they should stop calling themselves goths and emos, since they don't know what it's about. For example. . .

A couple weeks ago I was at a goth club dancing. Next to me were a group of 18 year old pseudo-goths. The song changed and one of them said to his friends "I'm going to sit out this one. I don't like this song." The song in question was Siousxie & the Banshees "Christine"!!!!! What kind of goth doesn't like that song? I almost kicked him out of the club myself.

THE WHOLE REASON FOR THEM BEING THIS WAY IS TO BE ORIGINAL AND NOT BE FASHIONABLE, YET THEY ALL GO ROUND WEARING THE SAME ROCK BAND T-SHIRT, SO IS THAT NOT A FASHION FOR GOTHS?
I USED TO WORK IN A TATTOO AND PIERCING SHOP THAT ATTRACTED THEM ALL AND EACH ONE WAS THE SAME UNDER 18.
IT WAS THE OLDER WISER ONES WHO ACTUALLY DRESSED IN THEIR OWN WAY, EVERYONE HAS A DARK SIDE YET THE YOUNGER GENERATION DOESNT HAPPEN TO BE IMAGINATIVE ENOUGH TO EXPRESS IT IN THEIR OWN WAY.

I completely agree with you. I went to my sister's high school graduation this summer and couldn't believe all of the students that were there. It was like a Fall Out Boy groupie reunion. I ACTUALLY listen to that music (well, not Fall Out Boy, cause they suck, but that's a whole other issue) and have for a while, yet I think it's stupid to dress that way. With that style of dress, how can you get a good paying job or even have people respect you. It seems to me like this style is supposed to make you stand out from the rest of the population, when in reality, those who dress this way look just like EVERYONE else.

look you got to start somewhere. some conform and some stay goth. in 1982 i discovered the dark life and 24 years later i still live the life. give them space to discover themselves. being goth is all about tolerance. you don't like it when people treat you bad or make snappy judgements just because of your lifestyle choices. plus i think they look cute. little rivet heads and mini mortitia's roaming the streets. without them the family will die out. let the darkness grow.

from a granny goth.

No, i dont think they are fakes, they are just simply expressing themselves. Think of it like music, millions of people love the same songs, right? So, you see, its just like that with expressing oneself through behaviour and clothing...lots of people feel the same way. I think expression is great so, I say live and let live. :)
