Sleep can sometimes be a problem for me ...not so much the 'getting there,' but what happens when I'm involved in it.
It was thought for a time that i had sleep apnoea, but I have something closely allied to it.
I spent over a decade working a night shift, and sleeping was rarely a problem. I'd sleep like a log and wake feeling fresh and full of energy.
Waiting for sleep to arrive, i use the time thinking of the the next chapter of something I'm writing, or maybe withe the radio on set to 'sleep.' But then, even if i don't sleep properly, and sometimes I don't, then as I'm not 'earning,' I can catch whatever i need pretty much when i need it.

What is sleep, I am an insomniac and have been since I was little. No pills herbal or medical have helped I sometimes only get 2 hours sleep at a time and yes it does effect my life, but after a while you learn to adapt. I also tried breathing exercises, baths, relaxing tapes you name it I've tried it I am just not meant to sleep, my mother and daughters are the same.

I have probs sleeping.. what works best is pretending my body is getting heavier and heavier and is sinking into the mattress..first by legs..pretend theyre heavy weights then do ure arms, head and torso..it works well..it really relaxes me..
I've done over the counter sleeping pills but break a pill into fourths or thirds and only take a small piece of one because theyre really potent and will mess up your sleeping pattern..you will be groggy the next day..
Muscle relaxers are great..they relax your whole body and make it heavy..
If those don't work try nyquil of tylenol p.m...same effect as sleeping pills but you won't be a zombie the next day at work!
Good luck!

The quickest way I get to sleep is to think about things I am interested in. Then you use your imagination and create scenarios or non-sexual fantasies but sexual fantasies can still work, and eventually your imagination keeps making wilder and sillier ideas and they become more like dreams. Then you are asleep and you will have lots of dreams about what you were imagining about. This really works. I think about Alias when I go to sleep, and I have a dream where I am in the show. I think about being on a jetski and I dream about jetskiing around a tropical island. It sort of influences your dreams and creates a world you want to visit rather than a random weird dream that isn't enjoyable.

There is some kind of workout that you can do on your bed that relaxes you and when you hit the pillow you are out. Try somewhere on line and type in methods to sleep better. I hope I could help

With my shifts, I often have to be up at 4.30am. When I cannot sleep and if reading hasn't tired my eyes, I find myself just lying there with my eyes closed and just rest.
Even if sleep doesn't come, at least my body isn't exhausted.
