We have been having really bad thunder and lightning here where I live all day and I cannot figure out why we would be continually losing power but it only goes out for maybe 2 seconds at a time. What causes this short term power loss? Any ideas?

Does it actually get darker before or after or at the official sunset time? Obviously it's a gradual thing, but lets say the time for today is 07:32pm...I'm assuming that at that time, the sun will be gone from the sky...but wont there be residual light left over for a while? Sorry, I've just never payed much attention to it! Thanks

Although Hurricane Katrina was a U.S. natural disaster I think it's amazing what a hurricane can do to such a city (New Orleans). Other major hurricanes, although they have caused a great loss of life, are awesome to analyze as they are heading toward landfall. I might be crazy but I just love hurricanes.

You only really hear about this happening in the Gulf and rarely on the East Coat (Atlantic Ocean) or the West Coast (Pacific Ocean).
I know the storms form in the ocean but seem to have an affinity for the Gulf coast region.

I live in a 1,000 sq feet apartment without air conditioning here in Toronto, which can sometimes reach 35C during the summer. The cold tap water here is around 7C. If I fill a 100L plastic bathtub with this water and replace the water whenever it warms up to 20C, how long will it take to cool the entire unit?
