i got from a TV show that lightning starts from the ground up, im wanting to know if that is true

It's both. The potential difference between the cloud and the ground causes electrical channels to reach toward one another--multiple ones that can sometimes be seen in photos. When the negative channel from the cloud connects with a channel reaching up from the ground, negative energy flows down, and then a return strike from the ground to the cloud is what produces the brilliant flash. Lightning is caused when there is difference in charge between the ground and the clouds or between two or more clouds. Therefore it can go up, down or between the clouds. The most common is within a cumulus cloud

Oh damn science flashbacks!!! I think that it starts from the ground as a spark and the one from the sky comes down, they meet in the middle and you see the lightning

I believe it start from the sky but what you see, the actual lightening strike is from the ground up.

the lighting is produce inside of the cloud but if you see it closer it look like it touches the ground

lightening is caused by friction between clouds. As we all know, there are no clouds on the ground.
