i know when it's full that the pressure of water acting on the paper is less than that of air from the other side..

but when the glass is half full, air and water pressure act on the paper from inside the glass which makes that pressure > that of air yet it doesn't fall..

i got two answers but i'm not usre:
1 - about water cooling air inside glass so it has low pressure (but i tried it with hot water and worked)

i don't know if they're right, can any1 tell me and give me more details??

I have a wire closed at both ends and tuning fork of 450 Hz.
My question is -
I think resonance frequency is that when the frequency of the wire become equal to that of tuning fork. but if I change the mass/density of the wire than will the resonance frequency change?

if it is so but the frequency of tuning fork is still 450 Hz then how can it change

If it is not so then what are thee things which changes with the change of mass and how can we calculate them

What happens if there is a pulley and a monkey is hanging from one side of the rope while an equal immobile mass is hanging from the other end of the rope and suddenly the monkey starts crawling up the rope? Does he go up or down? The mass is moving upwards but is putting a force downwards. The whole equilibrium is messed up...it isn't as easy as it seems.

vertical velocity component, Vsin30. vertical velocity at the peak of the trajectory is 0 due to gravity causing a change in direction. the cannon at this point starts to fall and takes the same amount of time to go down as it took to go up. time taken to go reach the peak, t2=(Vsin30)/g, where g is 32.185.

for the cannon to reach the target exactly when it reaches down to the bottom of the trajectory, t1=2x t2.

240/Vcos30=2(Vsin30)/32.185

V²(cos30)(sin30)=240 x 32.185 / 2
V=sqrt(8919)
V=94.44 feet per second "

Where did the 32.185 come in? How do you get it?

a. What is the tension in each wire supporting the street lamp?

So I'm doing an egg drop project for physics, which has many restrictions. First off, it will be dropped downward 8.4m, and there will be a target directly below (the closer you are to the target, the more points, and vice versa). The project must be 250 grams total (egg + whatever used). Also, the teacher stated that the egg is already 60-70 grams, so there is not much to work with. Biodegradable materials are the only materials allowed (no plastic, metal, Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, sponges, other synthetic materials, popcorn). Rubber balloons would also be okay, along with parachutes. So the question is, how should I build it in the way that it drops as close to the target as possible, while still maintaining the maximum weight of 250g? What materials should I use and how should I build it? Thanks

I read a story about two people who saw what they thought was another dimension through a square "opening" that appeared in a room in their house. It appeared out of nowhere and these two people could see others through this opening, looking back at them. The square remained open for several hours. There was no sound and the images would fade in and out at times, but were very clear for the majority of the time the opening was there.

Eventually, the square began to shrink and seemed to pull away from the room and once it was gone, it never returned. It was a spontaneous occurrence, and complete happenstance as the two people involved were not doing any type of experiment or investigation. The square just suddenly appeared and then was gone.

I read this account on the Fortean Times website and it got me to wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything similar.

A fighter jet lands on an aircraft carrier's flight deck. Although the deck is 300 m long, most of the jet's acceleration occurs within a distance of 42 m. If the jet's velocity is reduced uniformly from 153 km/h to 0km/h as it moves through 42 m, what is the jet's acceleration?


I tried to do this problem myself, and I got -278,678.6 km/h², I believe that that answer is too high though.
