If everything else about us has pretty much been decimalized (as 100 is supposed to be easier to work with) e.g. Money (as in pound/shillings/pence... gone), Weights (pounds/stones... going) & Measurement (inches/feet/miles... going) and indeed numbers themselves! (roman numerals... long gone) etc... How come time itself has not yet been decimalized and why is it in the format that it is?

For example, look at our technology advancement rate. 10 years ago, it was like the "stone age" for computers. Now, a Pentium 4 processor isn't enough anymore. Think about it.

This might be a dumb question, but my head is loopy, so, oh well.

I know we have records of the past in the form of tangible items, like fossils, antiques, etc., and that we can document our own past with modern video technology.

So, knowing that still my question is this: Since all such records are incomplete, serving to more or less validate stories said of the past, but never with 100% accuracy, what makes some time travel theorists think the past still exists and can be entered? I'm not asking if we change the past once we enter it, but if the past dies in all ways other than those things which transcend small moments in time.

If we evolved in to such a complex collection of cells how could the development of D.N.A. happen just by chance?

In evolution the theory goes that all life evolved from a single organism. I want to know how that organism knew of its mortality because all living things die. Because if it was the first there was no apriori knowledge, no instinct.

I am a Christian who firmly believes in creationism but I ask this question in all sincerity.

I don't know if anyone can help me w/my question since it's a myth/legend. I saw something a few years ago on the SCI-FI channel. It was interesting. It was about a monk that went into the forest and fell asleep. When he woke up, he found two small bodies. The legend was that during certain parts of the year, the people would bloom from these trees. Well, the bodies he found were very small and shriveled. It looked as though they were plucked from their heads. What he found resembled the legend. The people were kind of like plants because they grew on trees. When he took the bodies to be investigated, researchers were baffled because there were 2 distinct bodies. The only thing they were missing were bones. Other than that, all the features were prominent. The researchers tested the tissue of the bodies and found them to match those of plants. I don't remember what the legend was called. It's really bothering me now. Does anyone know the name of the legend or heard of it?
