Life coming from somewhere other than the Earth is simply inspirational. Whether you believe that there is life outside of our Solar System, or Galaxy, or Universe, is up to you (Since there is no fact yet). But say that there is no life in our solar system other than our own... Will that really get you down? The fact that not knowing is a more scientific fact of saying there IS something else out there that is alive as we are... The fact of not knowing shouldn't upset you, but rather inspire you to push our country into the bounds of the Universe, to find your long-sought after answer.
Perhaps it isn't the Governments job to do so... Perhaps we as a people need to force ourselves into space, free enterprise means anywhere, anytime we want... In essense, build up a company that goes multi-billion, invest in your own space program, and set a satellite for a 100 year journey to a distant galaxy.... Other than that, I don't think the Government is going to look into anything that doesn't support it IMMEDIATELY.

Becasue its REALLY ******* HARD. going light speed, a speed we dont have, it would take 5 million years to get to the closest star. If we could send signals to the closest possible aliens (a solar system at Alpha Centauri) your great x 10 ^ 24th (thats scientific notation for A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT) children would be DEAD. by the time a signal got back, no one would know that one was sent out

This planet is too busy fighting amongst themselves to notice whats going on apart from a small team in nasa watching the rover on mars.
Anyway no sightings have been made since and they are probably bored with us and find us primitive. So instead of invading they just watch us do it to ourselves

Two reasons.
1. It is no known threat to the economy.
2. The sightings completely stopped a few years ago. Nothing
since. Like they "went away."

There must be life beyond earth but first let us make enough funds to make everyone's life beautiful here on the earth only.

Government Wonks- are control freaks; they figure the LESS the average person knows about anything, the MORE they can control our behavior. So the NEXT time a politician tells you to be "afraid" of someone or some thing- you SHOULD be; of THEM !!!

What makes you think they know it? Space is amazingly, impossibly, hugely, BIG. Maybe (hopefully) one day we will find out. But for now, I am sure that the technology is not there, but is being developped and researched.
