The first organisms had no concept of mortality. They were not even self-aware. Most organisms alive today are unaware of their mortality, they merely eat, avoid, warn, protect and fight instinctively, because such survivial behaviors are more effective than the alternatives. They don't think about what they're doing. A sense of one's own mortality requires the ability to associate one's own life with the life and death of others. Even humans are not truly aware of their mortality until they have experienced the deaths of others.
The earliest, simplest organisms reproduced by fission, dividing in two, so technically they didn't die. There is a fair possibility that, though divided a million times, they may still exist today.

Oh, specific, without a doubt1408 grew to become into the excellent frightening action picture this twelve months!! i like frightening video clips and that i enjoyed it. It grew to become into unpredictable, suspenseful and extremely unique. (I hadn't study the tale yet I comprehend Hollywood replaced adequate to maintain it interesting even for people that already study the tale.) it extremely is not gory. some video clips count on blood and guts and gore to get an emotional reaction from the objective audience. No, no longer 1408! It scared you with the unknown, the questioning what could take place next despite the fact that if it wasn't gross. yet, easily, i grew to become into gasping at components! I propose, you ought to very almost see people interior the objective audience leaning forward of their seats desirous to make certain what grew to become into going to take place next! John Cusack and Samuel L.Jackson gave magnificent performances! And the failings that befell, nicely, in the beginning up you're questioning if it extremely is accident or relatively something evil then issues strengthen and you're merely breathless questioning what's coming next. I enjoyed it and am recommending it to all people. between the excellent frightening video clips that i've got ever considered! And one that folk can talk afterwards via fact all people sees some issues in any different case! i can't wait till it extremely is on DVD!

The only creatures that are aware of thier mortality are those with a conscience. Concience came into existence when the human brain grew large enough to comprehend a logical thought process and therefore became 'self aware'. Self awareness led to many beliefs after that.. Including religion.

no one knew of mortality until God put that knowledge there. I am a Christian who believes that God created thru evolution. I have heard that Billy Graham agrees, tho I do not personally know that for sure.

I used to be evolutionist and try to fit it into God's creation; however, as I grow older and wiser, I see ever-increasing folly and gaps and...well...absurdity...in evolution theory. From my own life's experiences, I believe in God, I have faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, and in so my life has changed. I see God's hand at work all around me. I have a peace I cannot explain. Evolution never did anything for me...except provide a few chuckles. I am now solidly creationist.
With that in mind, I cannot answer your question except for the case of humans. Adam and Eve learned their mortality when God said that they would surely die as a result of their disobedience.
One final comment...most people tend to think that dieing was a punishment from God. I, however, think it was an act of mercy. You see, sin separates us from the Father. God made us to fellowship with Him -- consider Adam and Eve. Had Adam and Eve subsequently eaten from the Tree of Life, they would have lived in eternal separation from God...a kind of living hell. When we die -- at least for the believers -- we are given salvation and a new body free of sin. We have eternal fellowship with God. The rest of the Bible is a kind of love story, showing us how God made a way through Christ to bring His people back to Himself.

To be mortal does not necessarily preclude knowledge of mortality. If a baby dies shortly after birth, did it know of its mortality? I don't think so. In other words, if your mortality is known, then you are also mortal...but if you are mortal it does not mean that you know of your mortality. Your argument is problematic.

I would think a "first" organism would have no clue that it was mortal.

It didn't. Animals learn from personal experience about injuries, but they don't they will die.
