Well, I suppose they are there, packed in milliuons of years of sediment, to test us. It's the same way God doesn't just openly appear to mankind; it's Faith. Having carbon dating show that these things are old are a form of seeing if people can truly believe, even if their Faith is tested by science. Obviously, God can age the bones, and pack them in dirt.
Or, maybe the Earth is older than we know, and God just hasn't revealed everything to us yet. Who really knows?

first poster is incorrect. Man is, maybe, as old as 7 million years and, surely, as old as 2.4 million years. If man is 7 million, or even only 2.4 million years old then obviously the book of genisis is no more than a folk tale.
I've actually heard some people say the dinosaur bones that have been found were put there by god to test man and were not truely the bones of actual animals.

Well, if you interpret it literally, the bible would definitely be incorrect. However, if you interpret it figuratively, it will make much more sense. Eac 'day' described there could mean a span of millions (or even billions) of years. In light of this, then the bible would, in a way, be correct in stating that animals (dinosaurs included) came before humans. Well, it's actually up to you if you want to look at it this way or not. Hope this helps even by a tiny bit.

The bible is not a factual document. Its a fiction written to support bigotted views over the years.
It devotes an entire 100 or so words to the origins of the world - you could hardly expect details. And those who take it to be a complete scientific description of creation are clearly several pennies short of a shilling.

Something I told someone once about dinosaurs and their role in the Bible. If God deliberately put them there to test our faith, there are a couple of theological problems with this:
1. If God knows everything, then he already knows our faith. If not, then he doesn't know everything and apparently whatever we think can be hidden from God.
2. If God put the bones there to challenge our faith and established guidelines to lead us astray (carbon dating, etc.), this means God is evil as he is attempting to lead you astray. Saying God is evil would be blasphemy to Christianity.
Christianity really needs to come up with a better arguement to deal with dinosaurs than the above.

Yeah, it depends on how you look at it. As I look it, what bible said is entirely human, which means it is the creation of the human civilisation as we know it as well as all the organisms that existed at that time. But scientifically the world is much older, except no human lived at 650 000 years ago.

Firstly, Time to God is meaningless. To him a day is a thousan years and a thousand yyears is a day. Between creation of animals and creation of man could have been any number of years.Millions even
