Confused, because i am ?

I'm writing a story about a person who travels into the past who ends up accidentally sleeping with his own ancestor leading to the birth of a child. this child it is determined is not only his son, but also his great great (however many times) grandfather.

My question is, Is it possible, assuming one could travel back in time, to become your own ancestor, and would there be any negative effect on who you were because of it?

OK, when you are sitting in a classroom and you feel the urge to pass gas but you clinch your cheeks and in a few seconds the urge disappears, where did it go? It didn't come out because it doesn't stink, it isn't still there because I would feel it. Where does it go?

For the people who have read the example of a creature in Flatland.. It says that a 2d being on Flatland will "see" a 3d sphere as a shadow if place above it.. the shadow will be that of a circle.. again a 2d right? It then says that for a 3d being the 4d also is seen as a shadow.. Can someone give me an example in our world.. An example of a "shadow" which is a 4d in our everyday experience? Or am I completely missing the point here....

Pick something else besides the will to survive.

After the will to survive I think fire making is the most imortant, why? well:

Fire can keep you warm

Fire can be used to purify water and cook food

Fire can boost morale

Fire can be used to signal rescuers

Fire can be used to scare away dangerous animals
