My husband, a disabled vet, has really bad knees. He is in very bad pain, and spends alot of time on his feet at work. We are working with the VA to get a double knee replacement (which was recommended over 15 years ago and he's put it off) In the mean time, though, his pain is worse every day. He has some pain medications (several different ones), but doesn't want to just live on them all the time, so he uses them very sparingly. He comes home from work every day and just keeps ice packs on his knees to numb them until he has to get up and go again the next day. It breaks my heart to see him so miserable. Are there any effective ways other than more drugs to help him until he can get the medical intervention that he needs? Preferably something we can do at home.

Here is what happened to me the other day. I have symptoms of reactive hypoglycemia a lot but my blood sugar levels never go out of the range of normal. For example, I ate a bunch of chocolate and got nauseated, sweaty, dizzy, anxious (heart was racing), short-tempered, paranoid, saw black splotches, etc. But next day I ate normal food and did not have any of this...until I ate chocolate again. Then started falling asleep at the computer, then rest of the symptoms again....but doctors say not proven w/out GTT test that shows sugar levels out of range of normal. Sugar level was 95-99 each time I checked. I feel it is something diabetic-like though. Btw, I am 5'3, 119 lbs, and I have an..um..eating issue also, which may have caused this. I hate protein, don't tell me to eat it and "fix" everything. Question is how to get a doc to believe me and document it. And what is "it"?

Apparently there is a 2.2 million dollar machine purchased by The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego that quickly screens protein molecules.

As said here in an article "CrystalMation allows scientists to quickly crystallize proteins, an otherwise laborious but critical step in the search for new antibodies against HIV"

can someone explain how new proteins would protect or fight against hiv?

yes i want to know whether the hiv dies after 9 seconds or it just becomes inactive. I also want to know whether the virus can be put back in fluid assuming it was inert/inactive and therein become active again?

I know that medical schools are looking for a diverse body of students, and my major will certainly let me stick out in this respect! I like accounting a lot, and if I am not accepted into medical school, I would like to go for my CPA license and start my own firm, and work with professionals in the medical field, or even go for an MBA. I am confident I that I can ace most if not all the courses, which I can not say about chemical engineering, or maybe even chemistry. I don't want to be a biology major because I am not interested in getting a Phd and this is what I need in order to do independent research. (The company you work for gets all of the credit for any discovery that you make. I am also not interested in becoming a teacher, and a bachelors or masters degree will only let you do so much research.) Ultimately I would like to be in an occupation where I can perform services, and either career will allow me to work directly with people and allow me to make their lives better. I would also consider becoming a pharmacy major, but because I have already spent two years in the accounting program, I think it would be better to stick with accounting. (Perhaps if I were to do things over, I would go for the pharmacy program.)

Ok well i went on vacation to a country called El Salvador. During my stay there the windows were open in the villa i was staying and there were slums across the street. I had insomnia and I developed a chronic upper respiratory infection and i was given some kind of antibiotic.

Now its a few years later and i seem to be experiencing strange symptoms possibly unrelated like chronic tension type headaches that grow worse on waking up early i feel like im being ripped from sleep and my head is hurting with a throbbing ache. I seem to have xerostemia or dry mouth alot of the time. My saliva is often sticky. On my tongue in my mouth there is tiny white nodules that have grown in thickly like a paste but the doctor says its not oral thrush. I constantly have dry eyes and I have to rub them to move moisture into them. My muscles seem to be sore most of the time even if i dont exert myself.

I got a blood test done and my monocytes are extremely high and lymphocytes are low. Please help
